I used to have a Weimaraner, I lost her a while back. Taken me a while to get over it.

I'm now thinking of getting another dog. I saw the cutest Dachshund puppy the other day, but they're so tiny. I've always liked Labradors and Beagles too.

Have had a Labrador, Retriever and now a Lurcher. Lurcher loves being out & about, but is sloth-like as soon as he get indoors & no trouble at all. Has an occasional dart around the house with a toy, but then back to sleep

Watch out for Alabama foot rot if you like walking them out in the countryside.

It's not very prevalent but it's out there!.

Advise is to make sure you wash there feet off well after returning home

We have a black lab and a white husky/malamute mix.

The dogs I tend to like are huskies and Australian shepards, Marc likes labs.

But really I just love all dogs. I'd have 5 of them if Marc let me.

We've got a dachshund, great breed of you fancy a challenge and a battle of wits.

Notoriously stubborn, hard to house train. But have the biggest personalities and will have you crying with laughter at their antics.

Let us know how you get on trying to recall after they've picked up a scent too

And they firmly believe it's written into the dachshund bill of rights to sleep under the bedcovers.

I work with dogs and own a basset hound

Dachshunds are very sweet, loveable, stubborn and funny! I have a miniature one that stays with me regularly who loves nothing more than to hide behind something, wait until my dog is passing and jump out and chase her, very funny to watch.

Finding a breed to suit your lifestyle, wants and needs is difficult, luckily with my work I've been able to 'try out' a LOT of breeds, including these crossbreed designer mongrels.

Just take your time, and meet breeders, owners and talk to trainers to see what obstacles you may need to face. Probably sounds daft but the more work you do before getting a dog, the easier it will be later on

I like bigger dogs, my lurcher cross is the softest, most loyal creature ever.

Although he does need to man up to my sister's Llaso and my mum's dalmatian is just batshit!!

I had a semi long coat German Shepherd rescue for 8 years, he was the best dog anyone could wish for and I don't think I could ever replace him. I also didn't realise how much he affected my allergies until he wasn't here anymore. I'd love another dog of similar temperament but without the coat so looking at dobermans for once the kids are at school full time.

I'd also love a mini dachshund but don't think I could cope with another stubborn petulant child at the moment lol

People have no idea of how stubborn they are. And I'd recommend avoiding them if you don't want a dog that thoroughly enjoys barking

62 West Wallaby Street (not real address)

Always had collies but when I was with my x we got bulldog. Best dog in the world but was quite high maintenance. He also got cancer at a young age and had to be put to sleep. Currently have a staffie x rottie. As much as I love her thanks to her start in life she is quite hard work. So if I had a choice I would definitely have another collie or a sealyham terrier

After doing lots of research I realised that minis are pretty much the dog version of my youngest child....I'm not brave enough to take another one of those on yet!! Lol x

I love the little pain in the bum I have sitting on my lap at the moment. He has to be touching me if I'm sitting down or asleep,even if it's the tip of his nose or a leg draped over my shoulder. His nose is currently wedged into my belly button and he had hiccups. He's a cross between a PomChi and a Jack Russell. I love all dogs

I had two labradoodles, one standard size and one small, extremely bouncy, lively and energetic, full of fun, and the friendliest dogs ever, not always a good thing as next to impossible to stop them jumping up and greeting everyone very enthusiastically, great if they were dog lovers, not so much if not

Suppsedly non moulting, but dont believe a word of that, there was hair everywhere, but so worth it

German or Belgium shepherds are my favourite. Also love Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

Last dog was a lurcher (Belgium shepherd/whippet) and was an amazing dog.

Least favourite breeds are spaniels, Huskies and beagles. All way too high maintenance.

i have a greyhound, never been a dog ive been that bothered about, fait bought him to me, he isn't upto racing standard so the breeder was going to drown him, i took him home at 6 weeks old, had him 6 years in August and hes the love of my life, they are such laid back placid dogs, 100% couch potatos, he'll just snugle up at the side of you at stay there all day, recomend them to anybody

Also have a black lab, nice dogs but full of energy

dogs i really love are English bull terriers but the kids wouldn't let me have one because they are ugly

Don't ever get a dog because they look ace research of the breed is essential.

Bassets are fabulous my boy was an amazing loyal friend but he was also the most stubborn, lazy, slobbery, thieving little git ever but he got away with it because he'd look at me with those big sad eyes

Think the politician of the dog world...would only do something if he was going to get something good out of it!!

I grew up with a German shepherd, my mum and dad got him when I was two and he died when I was 17.

My mum and dad never got another dog, even now 30 years later, they still wouldn't consider replacing him...

I would like an English otterhound or Germany shepherd but will wait a few more years until I have retired...

Any spaniel is a perfect family dog, they live at your pace and are happy to lounge about the house or go on long walks. Springers need a lot of attention and exercise tho. My sister has got a Patterdale terrier, he is by far the cleverest dog I have ever seen. We were out with her dog and mine the other day, another dog was running towards my dog barking, he ran up behind this other dog and shoulder barged it out of the way just before it got to my dog, I was astounded.

My kids were getting into teens and not much interest in our long nature walks anymore so got the dog so we had a reason to keep it up.great interest for kids. Getting dog used to harness now for weight pulling

There's a local schutzhund club that would be beyond my guy to even pass the test to get into it it's so demanding but that's my aim with my next dog. Watching a handler harness a great dogs drive like that is something special.

Hope to get a top bloodline of argentino dogo for it before end of year

It's unfortunate that breeds are banned like that but not her in ireland. And what dog laws are here are unenforced. Dog attacks arent common here tho

I had a west Highland terrier for 13 years. Such a beautiful little dog with great character. She's been gone nearly 7 months now and I'm still grieving for her every day. I don't think I can get another dog as I don't ever wanna feel like this again

Knew a few unhealthy boxers. A deaf gene runs in them too

But like most dog health problems they could be eradicated with responsible breeding

Don't know how you can say beagles are high maintenance

Mine's perfect

I've never had a positive experience handling a beagle. They're sweet enough natured when they want cuddles but the rest of the time, they're a bloody nightmare. In fairness, they have all been mismanaged and under stimulated. Not a breed that you want to give free rein to.

My dad breeds beagles, mad as a box of pissed off frogs they are. Unruly, stubborn and if you let them off lead you can kiss them goodbye. Look cute though lol x

My last two dogs were Bedlington Terriers...I've also had a staffie, lab and a lab-cross. I loved them all dearly and I'd love another dog when the time is right but breed-wise I think I'll always go with Bedlingtons.

Mine's obviously been well trained

Perfect on and off the lead, never strays out of sight and "always" comes when called.

Same with any working breed,there is high drive dogs and no drive dogs. Even in the same litter

I done the chicken bone on a string test when picking my guy

I love dogs and have always had English springer spaniels, my beautiful girl is such a diva.

But my friend has a Dogue de Bordeaux and he is a gorgeous dog. He is huge, his head is massive but he is a kind, gentle giant. He does slobber though so you have to carry a towel around on walks, and he snores. I would like one

I have a 15 week old rottweiler and she is the sweetest if naughtiest pup. I do get funny looks walking her when I take my 2.5 year old out though. I get even weirder looks on our evening walks when I walk her and my cat comes too

Grew up with Cairn and Norfolk Terriers and inherited a Heinz 57 dog that was left in a house we moved into. She was the loyalist dog ever too. I'll look at rescue dogs too.

There was a programme called the dog whisperer from the states which highlighted different breeds of dog and the Chihuahua was the lead dog amongst this captive pack of dogs an american pitbull was one of them.. but followed the little guy..

I would love a saint bernard but with the hours i spend in work, anything upto a 14 hour day, it really is not fair to leave a dog alone for that long. Maybe when I retire I might go to the dogs home and provide a loving home to one

i had a cavalier king charles spaniel who passed away 2 yrs ago and my dad had a rottie who i took over caring for after my dad passed away and sadly had lost him this week so those two are my fave breeds but i wont get another dog for a long time

We have a Weimeraner, beautiful but so much hard work with separation anxiety, highly strung is an under statement, anyone thinking of getting one do not think you know better than everyone else and yours will not "be like that", I did loads of research but nothing could have prepared us, 10 times harder than kids!!!!!

Of all the dogs I encounter professionally I'd recommended a German short haired pointers. Low maintenance, energetic but lovely and so friendly. I'd never met one until this year but now know two. They're just adorable.

That said, I've got the toy category of crufts at home with 4 little ones! My fave are my chihuahuas. Proper dogs but so compact and cheap to feed.

I love them all but wouldn't ever have a spaniel. Hard work and totally bonkers lol. Same for labradoodles ....

I'm a Patterdale mama. Crikey they are very active for such little dogs. They would be happy with 15 mile walks morning and night.

They're wonderful in the house. Very clean and affectionate. They love the shower and bath too. Quirky though. Hate the postman, hairdryer, vacuum, ironing board and the lawnmower.

My Dalmatian is awesome and so obedient for breed. He replaced my last two that were right little bastards but saw me through the tears and joys of life and I still miss them dearly.

I've known a few Weimaraner's and there all been hard work. Too focused on killing things.

We have springer spaniels. They're good at flushing stuff out to be killed and then pick the corpes up and bring them to you

And the gene pools if these pure breeds are getting more depleted with lack of new blood
