Dogs in shops

Twice is has happen to me. In two different shops. The shops policy are no dogs expect for assistance dogs. Both times I have seen people carring their dogs. I have pointed this out to the duty manager to be told, because the dog is being carried it is ok for it to be in the shop.

So does that mean if you pick a dog up it no longer a dog.

And by the way I am a dog owner

Only ever taken our dog into shops a few times, this was when he was a tiny puppy though.

He's a miniature dachshund so I just used to stuff him in my coat with his head popping out.

Never got any complaints, in fact most people stopped to make a fuss of him.

This irritates me too, (as a dog owner). I have three dogs and wouldn't be able to lift all three up in order to go into shops, so they have to stay outside with a family member who doesn't want to go into the shop. BTW, there are some shops who are dog friendly, LUSH for one...I take mine in there and they get fussed by all the staff especially when they are not busy. I even leave the dogs there if I need to nip to the loo in Mc Ds next door!

I thought the law must of changed as in the last couple of years ive seen more and more dogs in shops, signs saying dog friendly, cafes letting dogs in.

Cafe nero for sure let dogs in

I've found the perfect solution to This problem, simply disguise your dog as a cat.. I've yet to see any shops with a no cats allowed sign... you just have to make sure they don't bark and give the game away though.

I have to leave my dogs outside.

If it say no dogs thats the end of it. A dog a dog picked up our not

Ok sorry, it is the same in the village pub that I go in they even have a treat bowl behind the bar for the dogs!! Just a little annoying when you are dressed up and some wet stinky dog starts rubbing against you!

Pork scratching and bacon fries are always a popular treat. I used to get amused as all the wives knew where the men were, and on occasion used to ring me to find out if they were still there if they'd been a while

I went into a cafe in London and was not too pleased for a dog with it's owners to start barking with another dog that came in ........

No animals should be where food is being consumed ( my preference )

Yes I own dogs. No they don't hang out around the dining table.

Fucking liberty of dog owners. Soon you can take your lunch break with someone's pig and goat.

My dog goes everywhere in the day time with me. Into shop and (outside) pubs. Got asked once to leave my dog outside, i refused and told them hes better behaved than most kids!!

I don't take my dog shopping. I can't see any reason why I would want to. As much as I love him,I go out to get away from him. Imagine if everyone took their dog into Asda. Doesn't bear thinking about.

I seen someone Carring a dog in Morrissons. Why when it says on dogs people pick them up and carry them into the shop

I think where food hygiene is an issue it is simply common sense not to want animals in certain areas.

Therefore, I wouldn't have a problem with dogs in shops where this is not an issue.

I agree i never take my dogs anywhere with me if I'm going I be going inside anywhere

I'd love to see the look on people's faces of i got to the shop, picked my greyhound up and slung him round my neck while I went shopping

I never took my dog shopping, or to car boots, markets etc. when she was alive, other than a quick pop in to the corner shop when taking her for a walk.

we went out for our Christmas meal, me and my friends. A dog in the pub pissed up my leg. It was behind me and I didn't know till I started to feel it and all the dogs owner said was he doesn't usually do that.

Saw another dog piss up a large plant pot in a pub the dogs owner was asked to leave and he kicked up a fuss.

Even worse in Belgium they sit the dogs at bloody tables in cafes
