the fact is everyone knew what remain would mean and were clearing not happy to carry on as we are so opted for a leap into the unknown. this is the fault of government not addressing the key issues within the eu that the ppl of this country have asked for .camorons feeble attempt to get concessions before the vote was probably the deciding factor for many that were still on the fence in the run up to vote.

Be careful what you wish for. The absolute best you could get out of leaving:

* That voting Leave actually hurts the elites in some way, as though Boris, Gove, Iain Duncan Smith, Tory eurosceptics and Farage aren't elites.

* That immigration is any kind of issue for Britain compared to Austerity cuts (it isn't).

* That we can "control our borders" in some new way now (we want to trade with the EU, they'll always insist on free movement. No change. Everyone knew this.)

* That they're acting for democracy because the EU is undemocratic and it controls our laws an unacceptable amount for what we get in return (it isn't and absolutely doesn't).

* That this is a reaction from the 70% of Britain who didn't vote for the Tories but have had Austerity imposed on them for years and were powerless to attack Cameron any other way (your life is about to become hell and the people taking over the government for the next 4 years will be more right-wing and ideological than he ever was).

* Those on the left who thought that the lefty case for exit was real (you've just energised the far-right in Europe and the UK for a generation and validated every racist in Britain, you stupid assholes).

And those that didn't vote gave up their right to have ANY say in the matter. That is what democracy means. You don't vote......you abdicate your right to have any say or to comment!

whats done is done and we will have to get on with it as a country for the benefit of our kids and their kids etc..

i have said twice over the run up to yesterdays vote that i hoped there would be no gloating or 'i told you so, idiot' from either side when the result came in..

i still stand by that..

i agree with much of what Wyrd says above and we, thats all of us will only know if this was a good democratic decision for our long term future in due course..

That's true but as I am in and out of hospitals all day long I see more Filipinos and North Africans than I do EU workers so I do not see that changing anytime soon.

But things have to change in this country and our own Bristish born people should be made to do more to support themselves and thier families.

Too much apethy here!!! everyone is capable of doing some kind of work to contribute but many work the system.

Untrue and a similar statement to most info here regarding the repercussions of a no vote. Your currency would have bounced very strongly had you stayed in as investors and currency markets say it as stable and safe investment. Now it is seen as a huge risk and a drop will continue but for how long no one knows.

If I was involved in manufacturing or the money markets in the UK right now I would be extremely worried. I sincerely hope the UK rebound's with strength and vigor but common sense says it's very very uikely.

One example for you. I work for a French based multi national with 45,000 plus employees. Depending in the markets, delivery production and fuel cost the units produced and orders are transfered between different plants on a daily basis. All 5 bristish plants orders are being reduced as of this morning and will not return until stability does. This is very common within our company but it normally ends in job losses. You won't get the yes side give you real world examples like that

In a way, I want both the short and long term outlook for the UK to be bleak. I want our currency permanently weaker. I want there to be no change to migration levels. I want there to be a political "shutting out" of the UK. Just so leavers realise they've made a bad decision all the more sooner.

Sexual gratification through political and monetary instability. That's a new one even for me lol but it's pretty obvious that it's going to end that way. This could very easily bring about another recession in the UK. I hope to God I'm wrong as my job here will suffer but again the people who can least afford it will suffer greatly here. I gave no vested interest either way in the ground in the UK but my company is already moving masses of orders out
