...what does it mean when a woman says she is looking for a 'driven' or 'ambitious' person?

It's a trait that appears on a lot of dating profiles and I've always been quite confused by what you guys mean.

Does that translate to 'looking for a rich guy'?

..or something else?

I wouldn't says it's about money or material gain for me The goal of a dating site should be to find a relationship, so you want someone with potential to put passion into themselves, you and your relationship.
