When making big decisions, do you follow your head or your heart? And which has proved most effective with the benefit of hindsight?

.

I don't think it's one or the other, it's a combination of both

My heart makes decisions that are inconvenient and altogether at odds with my head.

It's a constant battle between the sensible choice and the choice that will make me happy - however temporarily

But when in doubt, reason wins out.

Neither are always right so I try and follow my gut instinct (which is better than both but again not 100% right!)

Head obviously.

If we stopped feeling and started thinking then we would manage to achieve a lot more good things.

I tend to overthink things and typically end up making the wrong choice might look right at the time.

But having said that. It's best to make choices and don't look back.

My gut instinct (heart) has always been pretty good for me.

I have a little card that a good friend sent to me which says "Listen to your head, your heart is an idiot". I consistently fail to follow this advice!

Hearts help us take risks. It's not all bad. The root of courage is the Latin for heart.

A friend sent me a message saying that when I have those days when I'm talking to myself I should listen as he's never met a wiser woman.

Think about it all logically forever, then ignore logic and follow my heart!

The head will always lead you to a rational outcome, but rational is not always right. As you say, the heart encourages risk and bravery, not always right either! I guess all we can do I back our own judgement and never regret our choices but accept them and move forward.

I always consult both - however when they are at odds I tend to go with my head for financial and long term decisions eg, do I really need a expensive holiday.

Heart for emotive decisions eg, does a relationship seem like it will work out? Do I drop everything to see a close friend
