He always used to collapse at gigs and require oxygen. He's too old to perform like that nowadays. He can't do all the singing anymore and a young backing singer does most of it.

Last time he collapsed on stage, I was there. Turned out he had a heart condition and needed an operation. Fingers crossed that it's nothing as serious this time.

I spoke to Meatloaf once on the phone. I asked who was calling. He said 'Meat.' Giggling, I queried 'Meat?'

He said, 'I'm Meatloaf sweetie. The real Meatloaf. How are you darling?'

Was too flustered to answer and transferred his call.

One of my favourite (very brief) telephone conversations ever.
