When my kids were small (12 months and Three years) I would be up by Six, housework done by Seven Thirty, washing on the line and showered, dressed, kids fed and dressed.....and drop them off to the childminder and into work by Nine.

Then an Eight hour day.....Four days a week.

little house on the praire

I would be up bathed dressed, housework all done, son ready, out the door for 8am to take him to the creche, full day at college, back pick him up. Home dinner ready and back out to do a partime evening job. Just part of a routine when you have children

Times have just changed, maybe for the better, there were no tax credits or childcare vouchers when I had my sons so it was very different then.

The benefits system has improved no end over the last 14 years, so it is possible for young women to lead a very different lifestyle.

I agree, I used to be like this, lord knows where I got the energy. There were days though when I just yearned to sleep as the tasks were interminable.

i was toying the the idea of doing and OU course while im enjoying being a mum.. change of carer..

before Amber came along i was working in the care sector, now i'm considering becoming a nursery nurse. used to do some volunteer work whilst i was doing an NVQ3 in early years but due to my full time work schedule at the time working about 48 hours and then doing 16 hours voluntary at the time was just so draining..

anyone done an Open Uni course before?
