dont yet know if its true , but thought a warning might be a good idea , i just had a text off a girlfriend of mine , telling me this happened in asda carpark at sheffield , basically you are approached by someone offering you a smell of a new perfume , when they hand you the paper strip and you sniff it it contains a chemical which knocks you out , then they rob you , they are preying on single girls , so please be careful x

Not sure about this particular incident but i can confirm it certainly happened in the South West of England.

So take care.

As somebody already said twice in this thread, try looking at the web site Snopes, you will find the made up tale there.

it would seem that the people approaching victims in car parks have been doing it for some years, and have been doing it in the USA, Australia, many European countries, etc, since at least 2004.

They must be spending a fortune on airfares

what I find amusing is how these very old and fake stories circulate the internet for years, but then there's always somebody who can confirm it recently just happend to a friend of theirs, etc.

Ok here's one that is true LOL if you've ever seen a prof called Real Hustle lmao fab series so it was how folk could or would scam you by three real ex scam artists that show you how they work .this one was they pretended to be parking folk they would take your keys at a random carpark pay place obviously hand you a ticket take your key then wait few mins untill you were gone then off with your car & contents they would also check your sat nav as most folk never clear it or log in home position then got your home address by your own sat nah then empty your house amazing that some people are so gulible or stupid to leave items in car likes

Personally when I park my car I buy a ticket if needed, put ticket in car, lock car, put keys in pocket. Don't see why anybody would feel the need to hand over their car keys.

Didn't know satnav contained the home address house number, but perhaps my model isn't the same as others.

What I like about the Real Hustle is that sometimes the victims are almost convincingly members of the public. Like that US series Cheaters, again sometimes the participants almost look genuine.

yes xx1234 the puplic are just so not expecting it that's why it works so darn well Hun as you see on programme like you said. Also your sat nah 90% of people travell from home to another location yes this with most sat nah have to punch in location then destination then there route plan displays yes .So for car thief all they do is type in where you've came from but I think newer devices store few locations aswell now in memory .Just remember to clear info when get home bud or leave car .The thing about pay parking came from America Manchester or London done trials to no avail as most folk wouldn't hand over there keys to complete stranger no matter if he appeared genuine or not it's unexpecting people they get .Did you see the credit card scam in restaurant omg was so quick they taken card from customer dropped by accident yeah ok then LOL the assistant would have mobile card reader under trouser leg as womans bottoms natuarky wider fir boots 2 seconds they have you pin as you type in machine you details etc scary how easy it is .

As for your credit card getting scanned, so what - the scanned details are then used to make a cloned card which is then tested abroad with a small purchase of about two dollars, or a couple of euros, and if that works they follow up with a big purchase, usually buying a plasma tv or something. I have had it done to our business cards, Barclaycard sort it, no problems, they see it all the time.
