Supermarket Offers

Turn left at the Singing Ringing Tree

I'm wondering whether I'm the only one that has been caught out on offers - today I bought 3 bags of sweets on offer for £2.00. When I checked my till receipt the total saving for doing so was a massive 4p! wow.

But the best offer I spotted today, in Tesco, was for Lindt Truffles or Lindt Bunnies. I was so impressed that I pointed it out to a sales assistant and commented that I had best get myself another trolley so I could stock up before they all went. Her reply was that the bunnies were in the seasonal aisle with the eggs.

The special offer was 'normal price £3.50, special offer - buy 2 for £7.00'

Must admit that often supermarket specials are always all that and can often get the item in the pound shop, so a much better bargain

Has anyone seen that peoples supermarket the amount of food waste households waste is amazing. Bogoff I tend to go shopping with a friend from school and we go halves and split the difference. And has anyone done the asda price check.

lol as a manager of a largest retale chain in the world, i can answer you why that happens

Because i bet if you looked at the items the items have been knoacked down they was probably £4.00 each at some point and the offer was 2 for £3.50, (just random numbers made up), you them get breifs come in weekly tell you whats going on offer and what items have been rolled back, so if this item was on it would have been rolled back from £4.00 a item to £3.50 a item making the multi save offer not longer applicable, unfortunately not all the shop floor workers have the common sence to take the offer labels off when the items rolled back there for you have situations like this, and in some cases you may see offer that say £2.00 a item of 2 got a fiver because the items may have started off at £3.00 before they was rolled back but the offer labels have not been taken off after

If you ever see it again i bet if you looks the items as an individual have been at a hight price previously, and buying the two items at the higher price would have made you a saving if you bought two

I feel such a geek lol

I walked into asda, flopped my cock onto the counter and said "lets see you roll that back!"

Ah the very rare shy creature called 'the trouser snake'. Did they faint at the sight of it, or just hit it with a shoe to kill it?

Let's see who's a savvy shopper. Which is the better deal:

Are we in Heron or Iceland? It affects the answer.

We have done the Asda price check and a couple of times we have had vouchers, but only for under a pound. We always check My Supermarket and virtually shop there first. Once stuff is in the basket, you can swap between Waitrose (ouch) Sainsburys (bit better) Tesco (crap meat loaded with water and dearer than... Asda (always the cheapest!)

We have just had a Tesco Express open about half a mile from us, but we go two miles and shop in Asda!

This makes me laugh. You see the 2 for £xx offers and you know damn well they've been offered at a lower price until the week before the offer starts when the price is then inflated to make it look like a great offer.

I'm savvy enough now that I can walk into any supermarket now and know what price a product is in any other supermarket, to know what a good price is. I've also noticed recently that a lot of the branded products are on better offer than the supermarket own brands but most people wo't bother checking that.

We've realised that dishwasher tablets are always on special offer and we used to bulk buy them but we don't have to now there's no point. We do take advantage of coffee deals though as it's not always our brand that is on specials, so when it is we buy loads of it. We like two finger Kits Kats and it works out much cheaper to buy the triple packs than the single or double ones.

I tend to go for the double points offers too plus I always check the end aisles and the damaged goods shelves.

Half price, assuming that you don't want more than one in the first place or a larger helping.

Dishwasher tablets are one of the biggest cons out there! Finish are grossly overpriced and anyone who buys their dishwasher cleaner is just mad! It does what the tablets are supposed to do!!! Lidl do 30 Dishwasher tablets for £1.72 and they are a "Which Best Buy" We have used them for about 5 years now...

Tend to buy coffee in the sticks like used in hotels. 200 for £9.99 in Booker Cash and Carry so just 5p per cup. And they stay fresh unlike an opened jar of coffee...

Not at all interested in the points, cos it would mean I have to shop at Tescco! Meat full of water (try it on a forman grill!) and pricing not as good as Asda... Along with the big brother aspect of loyalty cards...

theres a great farmers market at loch lomond shore. I like going there. I know exactly what you mean, the meat and produce always tastes better when it comes direct from the source rather than a third party, so to speak.

Does anyone else get suckered into buying more of a product than they intended to simply because it's on a three-for-two deal?

That used to drive Mrs Carambar absolutely batshit mental when I would nip to the supermarket to pick up something like a loaf of bread and then I'd come home with 3 loaves because I'd "saved" £1 by buying 3.

I ain't stupid and I know that really I've wasted £1 (and 2 loaves) rather than saving £1... but I'm a sucker for a bargain, and sometimes I just can't help myself.

I do that especially in Morrisons, got a pack of 40 slices of chicken for packed lunches for 49p instead of £1.48. Asda sold off a tins of tomatoes at 15p ea, thats half the price i pay for my normal ones

I found their reduced aisle, hidden away at the side of the store, debated on the posh bubble bath stuff at 50p but decided it wasnt worth it, not much else was worth it either
