Why is it that Europe are selecting the UK as scapegoats

With the fans causing trouble

When the Russians are organized gangs of professional trouble causers and not footy fans

FFS how the hell has Russia got into the competition in the first place

How long has Russia been in Europe !!!!!!

Personally I could not give a toss about the football but I do about professional thugs intent on trying to get countries sent home maybe the tactics are get everyone band and you might stand a chance of winning.

Unfortunately England has a history of football hooliganism so maybe that's why the Russians seem intent on targeting England fans?

Easy target - any England fans breaking the law should be dealt with appropriately. I'm not denying that at all and we do have a minority of twats for sure.

But zero Russians arrested in Marseille? Absolute joke.

One English kiddie jailed for 2 months for throwing a plastic bottle. Armed organised tooled up and balaclavaed up Russian gangs (celebrated by their own officials!) Nothing.

German, French, N Irish, Polish and Ukrainian fans fighting - yet not threatened with expulsion.

Sadly the English reputation from the 80s sticks with us and it's easier to scapegoat. Of course d*unken behaviour helps to reinforce those stereotypes and at times the English fans don't help themselves.

As per previous; a bad reputation takes decades to shake off and sadly Rent A Mob always seem to surface and dominate the media spotlight.

The French are scared of the Russians that's why! As was said since when were they in Europe ?

They have always been against the west, I could not give a toss about football myself but you have to ask what's the point in even going if someone is going to just spoil you're day!

On the whole, most fans are having a great time (well that's what my Twitter feed would suggest) with a small minority in the flashpoint areas. The Russians storming the stands inside the stadium (how could there be no arrests there!?!) excepted if you're sensible you can avoid trouble and have a great time.

Why let the thugs ruin the fun?

Seems as though the Russians have looked up to the uk thugs of the 80s and seen them as something to be admired, and now bettered.

Very little condemnation from the Russian authorities. Doesn't bode well for the World Cup in Russi in two years time.

on the road to nowhere in particular

There has been fighting in France for months which for some mysterious reason hasn't been covered by the media in the run up to the referendum. There has been plenty of fighting at the Euros with various different countries being involved. Unfortunately the light hearted banter between the fans tends to get overlooked for bigger headlines.

England fans with their reputation will always be targeted by others trying to prove themselves.

If anyone isn't sure about the Russians, there is plenty of footage on you tube of Russians meeting up and attacking each other with Military precision before dispersing.

And Mikki,

The main reason the home internationals were cancelled was because of the violence inflicted on innocent transport staff when matches were played at Wembley

Newcastle and Gateshead

actually remember the russians are the only one that have actually been charged with anything so far.... and that is for what happened in the stadium

the french police has now admitted it was russians that provoked a lot of the trouble... from people i know who were there they said the russians didn't pick on the huge groups of fans in the pubs but just pick out the random groups of fans going round in 3's and 4's....

plus from what is going round on the vine, marseille and PSG ultra's were also going at it under the cover of the english and russians.....

i know a lot of english and welsh fans are worried about what may well end up happening in lille tomorrow....

Some English fans were jailed for 2-3 months yesterday Fabio. No Russians have been arrested. Quite remarkable that given the scenes inside the stadium.

Russia has actually been given a suspended disqualification - one more incident and they're out of Euro 2016.

They're also receiving a €150,000 fine and France are apparently trying to get 50 Russian fans deported over the violence.

So the fighting has moved onto Lille. Videos of English and Welsh fans in traditional pose, arms aloft chanting "we're England and Wales, f&@k of Russia we're England an Wales". Yes the Russians are thugs, but is it too much to ask that young men from this country can behave with a bit of respect? So predictable and so depressing.
