The UK is considering allowing more than 1 million Turkish citizens visa-free travel to the UK, after information about "leaked documents" emerged in a leading Sunday paper.

The Proposal Was Supposed To Be Kept Under Wrap Until After The EU Referendum

.

The leaked cables referred to in the paper (SUNDAY TIMES) relate to a visa deal, reportedly planned as recompense for Turkish help dealing with the Syrian migrant crisis.

In one memo, Janet Douglas, the deputy head of mission in Ankara, was reported to have told the Foreign Office that when it was implemented "we will need to develop our own lines on the UK's stance to visa-free travel for Turks. "One option would be to assess again the possibility of visa travel for Turkish special passport holders which would be a risk, but a significant and symbolic gesture to Turkey."

And another memo was said to suggest the European Commission was seeking to "avoid major escalation of tensions" with Turkey "before the end of June" so the issue could be kept "under control".

This thread is not about what others are saying, it is about what The Sunday Times is saying and what you are reporting as fact.

I hate it when people who open with a point defend that point by dragging in what others have said.

It always weakens their position in my eyes. Like 'shit, I can't think of anything to say to that, so I'll open up another front in the discussion, that should get me out of this'

The Sunday Times is spouting bollocks. You are spouting bollocks. You can't defend or justify that position with direct discussion of that article. End of.

I think the story is probably true. It fits the pattern of lies told by 'Call Me(I fuck pigs heads)"we're all in this together" Dave and his sidekick Gideon prior to other elections. So why should they not follow the tried and tested winning formula for this plebiscite? After all they are reusing 'project fear' that saved their necks when they gambled with UK unity to get into power first time round. Or has everyone forgotten that this is not the first time we have been here and that to the caMorn mind last time the gamble worked and destroyed cohesive UK mainland opposition to Tory plans by destroying Scottish Labour. This time the gamble may well deliver the same result in England by transferring votes from Labour to UKIP.

I may be wrong but this is my read of whats going on.
