OP yes if i spot a guy who takes my fancy yes i will message them - and just like single guys who do that i get my share of thanks but no thanks from them but at least most are polite about it

When I was meeting alone i'd e mail single guys. Never got much response mind. Come to think of it - when i've emailed both guys and couples when we've been looking as a couple, we've had little response
