I need a new camera, I want an upgrade in readiness for my photography course in September.

Currently I have a Nikon D40 DSLR. Its a great starter camera, and Im used to its features. Maybe I will stick to Nikon but basically I want an easy to use DSLR camera. What camera do you have, do you go for a point and click type of digital camera, or do you like a lot of fiddly dials

I have a Canon SLR DOS 300D series - quite old (isnt everything after you buy it) I may consider upgrading soon but will stick to the Canon series as I have all of the additional lenses and accessories so would be mad to change.

If youre serious I'd get an SLR from any reputable leader but I have a Samsung D760 with a zoom lens which is miniscule in comparison and the picture quality is exceptional.

I still photograph on 35mm film too and have a polaroid. Some oldies will always remain goldies.

Basic Sony here.. easy to load on my lappy.. the wee memory card goes from my camera to my laptop and press upload.

that simple, even I can manage.

good luck on your course... yu will do well, you have a good eye for a pic x

A professional photographer friend of mine always uses Canons too. I may buy one of those. My Nikon is the cheaper end of the DSLR's and its out of production now anyway. Strangely its more expensive now, out of production, than it was when I bought it.

swear by sony my self best dig cams going easy to use on laptop .

there quality is great 2 ...

used to use 35 m as worked for supersnaps but think there thing of the past now ..dig cam all the way .

My course is a very basic photography course, I want to learn further about lighting techniques etc and i want the chance to photograph people. I am hoping they will have some students who will be willing. You cant just photograph strangers in the street, shame.

Of course I wont let them know about the other type of pics Ive taken lol. Ill have to pretend I photograph blades of grass or something.

I also have a point and click digital camera which was about £100 but its so easy and I really like it too, nice and light to hold

You really can photograph people in the streets but you need to focus them out of shot. I think you should come up to Newcastle and spend the day with me I'll teach you some tricks and also some macrophotography if you like

that would be great, im always worried about people coming up and punching me if I attempted it.

My son is very into macrophotography and has just bought some super duper lens. He wants to take pics of very tiny spiders and make them look like tarantulas - I could see macrophotography being useful on this site, for photographing very tiny cocks

Trusty old Eos300D here and lynne has a compact Samsung both great cameras and unless the Canon dies cant see me changing it in the future
