how much do you enjoy doing new things, entering the unknown, pushing your own boundaries of life?

to you weigh up risk for reward, when contemplating change?

What is the next thing youd like to experience and how will that experience change your world view...in your opinion?

contemplation thread of the day..

Hi Suzy

New things & challenges excites me. It's fun to learn where our limits are, and rediscovering them.

I try not to think too much about pros v cons, rather it's about how much fun the experience will be.

Like to learn another language..

How about you?

depends..if its risk to do with my life..jumping out of planes/ bungie jumping etc..i wont do it, because i have kids to get home too..

if its taking risks, just putting myself on the line, head above parapit, own limitations i can be quite reckless.

however i have been known to dig my heels in about things that i know i just wont like..for example roller-coasters..been on one in my life because i was bullied into doing it..i decided id never be bullied again.

however i have traveled to Australia on a one way ticket with a rucksack and 17 pounds..that was a buzz...that journey lasted 18 months.

i dont believe i know everything, so my reality is rather fluid and in recent times im far more comfortable not knowing and not expecting than i used to be..the unknown has become familiar as i live more in the moment...

i find in general that people are more cautious than i am, when i find ones that open me to new experiences..i think they are rather special x

I'd always hoped that space travel would be available to the average person within my lifetime. I'd love to go far enough into space and see the earth as a shining blue ball in a see of blackness.

Very much so, I would stay away from risks that could negatively affect people I wouldn't want to. Generally I'm up for something new, unless I know it's wrong or I just don't have any desire for the experience, especially if it's just because someone else says to do it.

There has to be some desire for it.

Yes, usually need to find out more about things, experiences, how things work, what it feels like, how it's made.....

Lots to learn and find out.

That's what got me here sometimes it's naughty, but it's goo to the bad.

Do you find that curiosity can lead to desire?

Once my roll cage has been fitted I'm going to start drag racing again, chasing a bit of an adrenalin rush in my old age.

No, I don't really like leaving the house, or talking to people, or seeing people, or noise, and I'm not overly fond of mushrooms either.

In my opinion, yes. Depends on whether or not you're looking for anything else.

Personally, I'm driven to see what's round the next corner, over that hill or the horizon. You never know...

I usually find other worlds in books.

I was going to say that most of what I said wasn't true but it actually is, I'm really not fond of mushrooms, talking to people or noise.

But, it's very rare for me to say no to things. I tend to live by the adage 'Fuck it, why not?'

Well Hatter I am not a fan of people, crowds or noise, but have no choice at times re: occassionally organising events, I just have to switch on 'nice mode ,' enjoy it while I can, then escape asap to peace, tranquility and books!

There's an excellent book by Susan Cain 'Quiet'...all about introverts in an extrovert world

A roll cage on a mobility scooter is about as useful as an am umbrella in a hurricane.

I'm generally good in social situations, I just find it exhausting at times and it's getting harder to find the time for myself to recharge. I think that is more the issue I need to find more time for myself.

For me, backpacking trips like yours (bet it was an experience like no other) are much more courageous than speeding around a track or soaring into the air on a snowboard, just becuause I don't have ze ballz to do it. Wouldn't go near theme park rides of any kind either: odds are never in our favour with external veriables like those..

Is being in the present much easier? Less worrying..

I love meeting people who opens up my world too.. X
