" I always found USN to be one of the best available and most easily digestible. Always worth using creatine too if your not already. Beyond that there is an almost endless list of additional suplamts, just depends how far you wanna go really. " as much as we piss take each other on threads, thanks for the reply, creatine is already added in the USN Muscle fuel and its a reasonable dose, I found with other creatine I was getting a lot of leg muscle cramps, (might not have been the creatine but put it down to that). also take branch chain Amino acids and vits, as many find; I have noticed a huge increase in squats weight

"i was told to try adding glucose powder to the mix it helps it to be absored better by the body Yes I have used mixes of 1/2 Maltodextrin 1/2 Protein with good results" The glucose gives you a blood sugar spike. When this happens your body absorbs the protein quicker. I just have a hand full of jelly beans before my shake. As for what protein, I Take two. In the morning a mass gainer from monster nutrition and after gym is swallow syntha 6

"i was told to try adding glucose powder to the mix it helps it to be absored better by the body " Glucose is pure sugar you might as well eat Haribo. As for a supplement its crap carbs and only beneficial to replace glycogen stores AFTER training

"It's not what you take its when you take it. Pre workout. 1-1hr before protein and complex carbs you choose which source. Infra workout. BCAA's. To prevent degradation. Post work out. Immediately after. Any fast acting refined carbs. Malto, glucose, Haribo, jelly beans. Coca Cola. Followed by a protein shake. " If you wish to take a pre work out performance drink. Look for one with creatine mono in at the least. Not all creatine is the same research. With the addition is caffeine. Preferably in the anhydrous form so less of a crash.

"I'm no expert (as you may be able to tell by my intimidatingly perfect physique) but the amount of places I've read that protein supplements are generally a con of the fitness industry and that you can easily provide your body with enough protein to rebuild through a healthy diet leaves me to question whether flooding your kidneys with excess protein is a good idea." Excess is not good, it can cause damage. However for those who need an above average daily intake of protein, it's a more convenient and easier an cheaper source. There are load on the market that are just made of crap. So one should choose a reliable brand and should calculate how much they need for their particular lifestyle.

The kidneys can accommodate plenty of protein coupled with the correct nutrients and plenty of water. Nobody has yet to work out what excess is. The main word we are looking at is "supplement" as in "in addition to". I normally only have one shake per day. Two at the most but very rarely. It is not to replace meals but to give you the added protein and calories in order to repair and grow/rebuild. Most people who train and use supplements tend to have lower alcohol intake therefore no extra stress on liver and kidneys. Now if someone were to train, take anabolics, narcotics and alcohol to another level as well as eating a high protein diet. Which part of it would be deemed excessive. All? Part? Or as you would expect too much for the liver and kidneys to process.

"i use myprotein.com" Ditto. Great value for money, great flavours and quality products. Too many expensive brands have additives like xanthum gum that don't need to be in there.

"i use myprotein.com" Just a tip, try the unflavoured versions and add nesquik or syrups or fruits. More sugar but tastes so much better and no nasty sweeteners or additives.

Don't want to bulk and don't want to gain weight just carry on toning " Girls/ guys, same same. If you don't intend on bulking or not training for mass strength or endurance gains and your main goal is to tone then a well balanced diet is all that's needed. No supplements needed as it's all in the food. Supplements may be helpful for some if they are naturally lacking in certain areas. You look amazing btw

Just extra energy to burn. Simples is best.
