Malvern Hills are always worth a visit as they are stunning. Lots to see and a kind of castle there too, well stately home really. Elgar Route is there as well.

Symonds Yat if you venture further south and a couple more castles there plus the ruins of an Abbey. Can kayak on the Wye. They have log cabins there with hot tubs.

Cirencester lots of Roman related museums and a villa. From there you can go into the Cotswolds. Lots to see there and it's very beautiful. Snowshill Manor and Broadway. Bourton on the Water.

We are pretty stacked up with landmarks really.

And Scarborough Castle, Anne Bronte's grave, memorials to James Moody - the only junior officer on the Titanic to die in the sinking, he was from here - Peasholm Park... lots of stuff. Plus nearby places like Whitby & Robin Hood's Bay.

Mostly fabulous views from the North Down's escarpment like Box Hill, but some fabulous National Trust properties like Chartwell just over the border in Kent.

Hever Castle is amazing too - it's my ambition to stay overnight in one of the rooms there!!

Glastonbury

Glastonbury is an ancient and historic market town nestled between the rolling Somerset hills and its Levels.

It is small but full of nut jobs and colour. There is Glastonbury Tor to climb, as well as the ruins of the once great abbey, second only to Westminster in terms of precedence, amongst other attractions.

There's, I think, just 2 chain stores on the High Street and I can recommend a number of pubs and hotels.

Oh, and it has this festival thingy.

I wasn't ignoring everyone, honest, it was just that life got in the way and we ended up having neither a proper holiday nor lots of short breaks. I accidentally decided to build a garage instead

Frustratingly we had to drive past many of these while doing the 'university circuit', but didn't fancy the "you two stay in the car, mum & dad just need to go and strip off" conversation

(also, if I'm honest, we were going to use it as a fishing expedition to see which forumites would like to say "Hi", but after a crisis of confidence suddenly thought many were simply proud of their locality

)

saddleworth moor yes infamous for those murders but a very beautifull area with lots of places to visit lakeside walks canals rivers woods and of course the moors with there views across four counties and into north wales. some nice hotels and guest houses al half hour from city center manchester

Google it! Its fabulous the entrance is very obscure, you'd never know it was there unless you know what your looking for. It's a grungy garage until you enter and it's a botanical type garden very quirky and hipster. Gin lovers must visit

Scarborough: we are currently planning walking the Cleveland Way, which just happens to go through Scarborough...

Of all the castles in Wales, I think it would have to be Conwy, for the added benefit of the rail and suspension bridges in front of it. Though from memory, the modern causeway bridge might spoil some of the view

(Also I'm not sure if they have forgiven me yet for trying to get in using my English Heritage card, and insisting "But of COURSE it's an English Castle"...

)

I've just worked out one of the UNLOS's, Dock of the Bay

The Angel of the North is a definite 'must-do', though judging by the number of people suggesting it, we might have to organise a mass naked joint pic, A la Spencer Tunick

I liked the idea of Mrs ddc astride the Wote Street Willy, until I realised the size - we might need a leg-up Markoh!

Stonehenge is another 'must do', and I think I know how, but it'll have to wait until next summer now...

We both went to Uni in Bristol, so know it has many beautiful landmarks

We almost came a cropper trying to get a pic of Mrs ddc on one of the lions in Trafalgar Square, a group of Japanese tourists squealed loudly as soon as she started to whip off her dress. So London might be out for a bit

I saw the Mormon Temple, that spire looks promising, especially as I never did sort out that Leaning Tower of Pisa pic...

Cockshot Lane sounds fun, but I'm not sure I'd be able to give Mrs ddc a facial in the 10 seconds our camera timer gives us. Sometimes it's all I can do to make it into the pic!

Since we don't have many of me, I'd like to try standing next to one of the statues in "Another Place", many of the other sights in Liverpool look a little busy
