It's reported that the lower your education and intelligence levels and the higher your age, the more likely you are to vote to leave the EU. And conversely, the opposite. Typical for you?

Recent polls indicates that 50+ voters are leaning towards an out vote, they must remember the good old days pre common market then I guess..

I have 2 degrees (engineering based) a number of pgdips; and countless other academic attainment qualifications...

...the only thing I am sure of is that statistics are made up to give out of work mathematicians a job and that the last general election polls (surveys) were completely wrong....

....still it gives the opportunity to say "vote leave and you are thick" wonder who commissioned that poll....

The result of the 1975 EU referendum was pretty conclusive .....

i've got low education but high IQ. so idk what that survey says about me in the first place...i'm not voting. figured out me voting will not affect what the government will do anyway. i'm not pretending i support this government either by playing their bullshit games.

I think I would define myself as undecided until the insults about leave/remain supporters stop. It's the worst form of politics I have witnessed and no one is showing themselves as particularly intelligent...

If the politicians had told the truth about the real intent of the EEC back then I wonder how that would have affected the result?

Again as reiterated in recent posts on here..this sort of major national issue should have been debated and decided by our elected representatives. The campaigns have been personal muck spreading clap trap on the whole.

I get the feeling they're happy to disenfranchise as many voters as possible, with their atrocious behaviour.

The incumbent Labour government of that time was elected by the people....

The people were given a free choice to decide our EU future and made their choice accordingly...

So surely the blame if any.... partly lies with the people.....

I'm like most people, average intelligence and not past it . I veer more towards remaining as I believe we do really well from membership but not fixed until polling.

I think if people used as much energy as they do to guess what the referendums outcome will be, to fix what's wrong with the country, everything would be ok

I would love to know where this report comes from by the way.... after all it is "reported", where, is it reported, or is this just another "I am voting one way and anyone who votes the other way is a thicko thread"? Seems a little daft and almost reinforcing the juvenile nature that both campaigns have been run thus far.....

....still I am sure that the "report" is a credible source

On a side-note, it's healthy to debate; reasoned arguments based on facts or personal opinions, but perhaps one should be clear whether it is a fact, or a report, or a personal opinion......

Source credibility - US media during breakfast, which I've just finished. . I'd assumed it was being discussed in the UK. Not Fox news btw. And I take little from the media as credible.

Ah the age old "people who disagree with me are thickos" argument reminiscent of any playground. Says more about the person saying it than it does about the person being called the thicko.

It's a harried argument and a minority of the conclusion

The poll comes from YOUGOV, the people that got the general election so very wrong:

https://yougov.co.uk/news/2015/05/08/general-election-opinion-polls-brief-post-mortem/

I am at university (again) at the moment; and I was surprised to say that 50% of the people I spoke to were in favour of voting out with about 25% undecided, I asked them about reducing their reach to a greater job market and they didn't seem too concerned as all countries in the EU are suffering massive unemployment and reduction in businesses since the economic crash; with many staples of european employment now seen as a poor choice.

They actually seemed more in favour in reducing the amount of EU professionals coming to the UK as our wages and conditions are generally higher/better and therefore wanted to reduce the competition to their own job market.

Again, I am reviewing what (little) actual evidence there is to help me decide, but it just seems to be full of scare-mongering (both sides), bigotry (one side) and false promises...

Conveniently ignoring the fact that the British people thought they were deciding on free trade, because they were lied to by the politicians.

Rock

For me, I'm coming to the end of a master's and my parter has one already, we both want out. Putting aside the debates regarding migrants and the so-called 'DIY recession' (the scaremongering on whether we stay in or not), what we don't like is how much we are controlled by Europe.

My 22 yr old son with a BA on the other hand, wants to stay in. In particularly, he likes how he has the free movement within Europe to work and thinks overall it will be good for the country.

Aw you see you've made another incorrect assumptions,,,,, which doesn't really add anything of worth to a debate so look here fella .... I'll just leave you too its and allow you to think you've scored some kind of victory if that is indeed your aim...

But basically your inability to capture my attention is the main reason I wont bother reading any reply you make..
