How much exercise do you do each week and what do you do ? Are you fit and a healthy weight ?

I am curious primarily but also looking for inspiration, as I haven't been able to weight bare on one leg for a few months. This has resulted in a decline in my fitness level and an expansion of my waist (I'm a big fat mess just now and feel miserable).

Thanks in advance

Mrs

I do close to no exercise. Marc exercises all the time. He tries really hard to get me interested because my family has lots of medical issues, and I honestly try, but I hate it and so don't do it as often as I should/could.

I'm starting a new exercise regime, though, and have committed to 30-45 minutes a day for 5 days a week.

If you've been non weight-bearing for thst amount of time seek professional advice otherwise you could do some serious damage...listen to your physio.

Not a lot! Used to play football but knees are too painful now. Do sit ups every other day and press ups but stay slim by not eating a lot! Sex is the best exercise...burns lots of calories!

Hmmm this is a very timely thread. I don't do a whole lot of exercise at the minute. I used to do quite a bit of walking but since I started driving 18 months ago the amount I walk has declined a lot. Thus I am currently at my heaviest ever weight and I'm not feeling very good about myself at all I don't like my body right now.

This weekend I'm going to start looking into various exercise routines I can get into and also have a look at some dietary advise as well.

My own little world

I have done very little exercise since I was about 18 and stopped playing football.

I try to eat well but that doesn't always happen.

I don't weigh myself often but can look in a mirror and be happy with what I see x

Just started exercising again in March. I dance once or twice a week, Pilates and water aerobics once a week, lunch time walking during the week then a bike ride and or walk with my friend on weekend. I'm fat and unfit but feeling much better and slimmer than I did 3 months ago

People punish themselves too much and to no avail.

To be healthy people just need to be on the move for most of the day.

e.g walking to the shops and back ( with a breezy step ) about 20 mins each way is ALL anyone needs.

Another good walk at night before bed.

3 times a week maybe for 15 mins or less - get your heart rate up. You can do it in your living room. Use carrier bags of tins if you like cow bells etc.

In your case... cos of your leg, go swimming a couple of times a week instead of walking. The water takes the weight of your leg.

Over exercising isn't needed to be healthy.

For weight loss, cut out sugar and anything with sugar in and just UP the movement.

Ride to work 3 or 4 days a week. That's 6 or 8 hours and 28 miles. Sometimes do a longer ride home.

Run at least 3 tines a week, often more usually between 1 and 2 hours. Walk a fair bit too.

Need to start making more of an effort with core work

I work out at the end of the working day, for about 45 minutes (two different routines; alternate days). Do a bit less on Saturdays but have a proper swim then.

Sundays always off.

I'm reasonably fit - eat well and so on. It's more working out than I would like to do but it's necessary for health reasons, so not much choice really.

I am very fit and I am doing bodybuilding. I go to the gym 5 times a week, you can say the gym is my 2nd home, each session is 1hr 30min and that includes 30min of cardio and I train heavy and intense. I change my routine each time as you have to confuse your muscle memory to keep seeing progress, for example, it could be chest/biceps one day, then the next day is back and so on. I am following a muscle diet and I eat 6 times a day. I am on a flexible diet, but aim for 3700kcal daily

"I change my routine each time as you have to confuse your muscle memory to keep seeing progress"

This was a problem for me (although I'm not working out at anything like your intensity) not because of muscle memory, but because I would get bored too easily.

An acquaintance of mine has a workout schedule he does with a deck of cards, which he takes out on the road when he's wrestling, and it's been a great help in keeping things fresh enough to manage without distraction.

Per week....Three sessions of weights, two pure cardio, one just skipping and a few body weight exercises. 15 minutes of yoga every morning but one. One day off with any food I like, bit the rest of the time I aim to eat well and clean.

Just about repairs the damage that sitting in a chair in an office all day does, and makes up for the debauchery of the off day

That is right, it could become boring, but as you change it, its more fun. I also do instinctive training, so I decide what to do when I come to the gym, which is fun.

London / Herts

I'm in the gym three times per week on average, for one hour sessions. I start with a five minute sprint, target a muscle group with each visit (biceps and triceps, back and shoulders, or chest), and end with some core exercises.

My studies and commute mean I'm also walking quite a lot every day, a couple of miles per week perhaps.
