Cameron's admission......

On Sky debate last night. In the opening questions....admitted that "over 40%" of EU migrants in the UK are claiming tax/working credits at an average of £10,000 a year!

1.2 million came here in last 5 years...his admission again. That's 300,000 at an average of £10,000....that's £3 billion every year!

Yet he still argues they make a net contribution! That's not including the cost of the services they use. NHS, schools, housing benefits etc....

The man defies logic. He also said the best way to control EU migration is to remain in! WTF? We have zero control because of free movement!

That's without a Greek, a Spaniard and some other (sorry I missed it) over-ruling our parliament trying to reduce VAT on solar panels and other energy saving measures.....yet he says EU are "protecting our environment " as though we couldn't do that ourselves.....

Think I'll just turn off next time his mug appears....

manchester & NI

In 2013, a total of 4.8m people claimed tax credits.

15% were born abroad.

I don't have a separate % for EU citizens only.

15% of 4.8million is 720,000. So certainly doesn't contradict Cameron's figures if 300,000 of them are a recent EU immigrants that makes it about 41% of them EU citizens or about 6.5% of the total claimants.

.

If I remember correctly from something I'd read in the newstatesman,i think tax credits are the one benefit that EU immigrants exceed their % in, it wasn't much maybe 1 or 2%.

Ie they made up 16% of the workforce but 18% of the tax credits.

Personally I don't think non UK citizens should receive any UK benefits at all regardless of wether they pax tax, work, don't work!.... I'd fully expect that to be the same vice versa
