A few months ago I had a new guy move into my house and since then a few bits of food stuff has gone missing (from me and other housemates) now I don't mind people borrowing stuff if 1 I get it back and 2 they save some for me. I explained this to the guy without accusing him of course and everything was fine he used a bit of my milk I use some of his etc! This morning however I went to make my lunch to be met with a completely scraped out tub of butter. Also noticed a carton of cranberry juice had been d*unk (not that I wanted it anyway). So I ask what people think I should do? I'm debating buying more butter using some then spreading laxatives on it or is that too wrong?

Well I had somebody knicking my milk off the step so got up really early 1 morning opened it really carefully took a nice big swig and filled it back up with anti freeze. Well it was a cold morning wasn't it and thought it might have the same effect as ready break

I said to buy a small tub of butter with a note saying 'here's some on us, now when it's gone buy your own!!' The guy is a nightmare of epic proportions, he threatened to punch the poor guy downstairs for making a bit of noise in the kitchen late one night!!

London and France

Put strong laxatives in some of it.

Worked a treat on a housemate I had many many years ago.

He was also a chocolate addict, and nicked a load of liqueur chocolates, so we got a new box, sucked out the liqueur fillings with a syringe, and replaced it with the hottest chilli essence we could find.

He got the message.

I've spoke to the landlady she's told me he hasn't paid any rent since March and told her he lost his job 2 weeks (which explains why he's "borrowing" food). But it takes a while to get an eviction apparently

Im not being a girl bladey thats bad.

Ethylene glycol poisoning is caused by the ingestion of ethylene glycol, the primary ingredient in automotive antifreeze. Ethylene glycol is a toxic, colorless, odorless, almost nonvolatile liquid with a sweet taste that is sometimes accidentally consumed by children and animals due to its sweetness. Following ingestion the symptoms of poisoning progress from signs similar to intoxication and vomiting; to hyperventilation, metabolic acidosis, and cardiovascular dysfunction; and finally acute kidney failure.

So I ask what people think I should do? I'm debating buying more butter using some then spreading laxatives on it or is that too wrong?

-Ads

you should not share a flat or have housemates if you get so uptight about these things, its a bloody tub of butter lol

jeeez lol

It's not just a tub of butter though, it's cider, juice and other food from other people

Why don't you get your own place then ??

Because we can't afford it obviously "

Do you want to rent my garage? It's quite nice

"Well I had somebody knicking my milk off the step so got up really early 1 morning opened it really carefully took a nice big swig and filled it back up with anti freeze. Well it was a cold morning wasn't it and thought it might have the same effect as ready break

Sadly not

It is google it!

Depends which type stop being such a girl. I had no brew in the morning ffs I'd have shot the cunt if I court him

Its what people use to poison cats as it tastes sweet so they happily lap it up"

Buy bagels, leave them for your greedy housemate to help themselves to.

Once they've done so have a laugh with them that someone's had your bagels but you've had them round your hard on for a laugh and have pics - take some in case they call your bluff, plus you can now proudly say you've fucked a bagel.

Watch the realisation on their face that you know that they know that you know they've ate a begal that's been on your cock. Job done.

It can be fatal pretty quickly!"

Yes it's poisonous once it's metabolised. The antidote is alcohol. The body will metabolise alcohol over ethylene glycol and so the antifreeze will be excreted without being metabolised and you'll be grand

Spiking your food or anyone else's isn't a good idea imo.

If you start doing it then he retaliates it could get out of hand very quickly and you've already said he has a tendency for violence.

Pinching your food is pretty low but threatening other house members, I imagine, would breach his contract or whatever and make it easier for your landlady to have him evicted.

I'm pretty sure that would be considered as some sort of assault in law. Especially if there was intent to cause harm. I'd stick to reasoning with the guy and, if that does not work, get your own mini fridge to use until such time as you and the others can get him to leave.

I would have another word with him maybe a little firmer this time, and explain that yes you feel sorry for his situation but it's not on.

Poisoning stuff even you're own would put you in the frame for gbh or abh.

Explain that steeling is stealing no matter what the amount or what it is and you would not put up with anymore, you could offer help in exchange for him doing stuff around the place for your landlady ?

This is all very confusing. The housemate of a house that someone hasn't moved in to yet is stealing food from someone who technically doesn't live there .

The man obviously has problems in his life since he's lost his job and has threatened physical violence. He in his turn is being threatened with assault via unknown administration of laxatives. Sounds like a bundle of laughs in that house

Right let me try clearing up some of the confusion! I've lived in the shared house for over a year with no problems!

Geeky is moving in July and we are hoping to use the extra money to save for a deposit!

He hasn't actually threatened the other guy to his face but said to me "I'm going to beat him before I move" (which was reported to landlady).

And I haven't actually threatened to spike it with laxatives was just after opinions and ideas of how to stop it happening!

I think I'm going with the bagel idea to be honest.

I think you know I'd never be shitting out of 2 holes and no matter what anyone thinks it's what I'd do again. I didn't pour it down his throat and I didn't ask him to steal it they where his choices not mine I simple decided to spoil what was my property to do with what I please "

But you are not entitled to do as you please even with your own property. Especially if what you please to do is cause harm to someone else.

Other than the fact it was all good until he moved in or everyone having food go missing except him or the fact I caught him using my washing powder? No and yes because he think he can threaten the foreigners out the house (he as much as said so!)

He hasn't actually told me he's lost his job he told the land lady who he hasn't paid for 3 months which tells me he has no money (despite him bragging about all the holidays he's booked so he's lying to one of us) I've spoke to him as the original post states but he denies it of course!

The laxative idea was more to be sure who it was. And possibly prevent future thefts

I read down to where Vara explained to Bladey that Anti Freeze is poisonous. I'd despaired long before that tho .....

The story I am unpicking is that a man with no means is hungry and people are discussing how to poison him or at the very least make him homeless. Nice people.

If you live in a shared house and you don't want to share with your neighbour in his bad times, then lock your precious butter in your room.

How humiliating for him to be down to stealing.

"Buy bagels, leave them for your greedy housemate to help themselves to.

Job done. "

There are some people, and not just women, who might find the idea of eating a cock ringed bagel a kinky turn on, especially if the cock was still inserted.

Here's a novel and not especially entertaining idea?

Maybe a small act of kindness on your part- cost you about a fiver?

Buy him a few groceries from your local cut price supermarket?

Bread, butter, milk, eggs..etc Give it to him personally and say that you are sorry he is going through a tough time and you have done what you can but can he please Ask if he needs anything in future?

It's being Christian (with a small c).

And will probably disarm him totally x

Sorry, but I don't think so it's fair when that couple are working for paying bills buy the food and they have to be ok with a guy who doesn't work and steal the food because he will be soon homless etc.

It his bloody choice. Laziness cheekiness. He could ask people talk with house mates but not steal.

He can find the job and just buy the food. Like all of us doing .

Ask don't take ? That's even more humiliating. I agree you are not there to provide his upkeep but in the short term,I , ME , MYSELF would feed another without any bad feeling. To NOT feed them while I eat would cause me to suffer.

I've known many a poor family help another without the moralising or moaning about what's yours and theirs.

To be fair to you , I do not know whether this man is a decent sort or a sponging twat.

As you have spoken to him,now speak to your landlady while you temporarily house your food in your room or put it all in a lockable box in the fridge.

If your landlady doesn't help soon then go to the police. Yes it's trivial and they have better things to do but you do need to let him know you won't tolerate it without letting your testosterone lose you the day or your murdering tendencies to get you a long prison sentence. Good luck x

What is it that people cannot see with this idiotic statement?

Lacing something and leaving it where others are able to take it and digest it whether they should or shouldn't is punishable. You'd have NO excuses.

Let's say my neighbours child keeps straying into my back garden cos they love playing on my kids swing and I don't like it. So I leave on my tree saw on by the swing and go indoors?

Not my fault ? Behave.

We had somone put adhesion promoter in one of the bottles of milk in the canteen fridge.

Its red and like a micture of solvent cleaner and chemical etcher the fumes are bad enough.

Anyway no one ever found out why if it was revenge or just a targeted/random attack but we had the police in and all sorts of hassle over it.

Then again we've had the police in because people drew cocks all over somones tool box

It's everyone's business if what the way you choose to deal with something is by committing a serious crime. And make no mistake about it, what you have confessed to doing on this thread is a serious crime and, if you actually have done what you have confessed to doing, could end you up with a long stretch in prison.

At the moment I'm assuming that your confession is not actually genuine and is just a rather bad case of false bravado and something you thought would be funny to say. Maybe you should clarify.

Sounds like a hangover. Dangerous in large amounts though.

Bladey she does have a point and you do know it had it been someone else you would be shitting out of two holes sometimes it is double standards on here and even you know that!

I think you know I'd never be shitting out of 2 holes and no matter what anyone thinks it's what I'd do again. I didn't pour it down his throat and I didn't ask him to steal it they where his choices not mine I simple decided to spoil what was my property to do with what I please

But you are not entitled to do as you please even with your own property. Especially if what you please to do is cause harm to someone else.

Right and that's what I chose to do is it. at the end of the day I'll deal with my business my way as you are free to do the same with yours

Maybe you should clarify."

"Here's a novel and not especially entertaining idea?

Maybe a small act of kindness on your part- cost you about a fiver?

Buy him a few groceries from your local cut price supermarket?

Bread, butter, milk, eggs..etc Give it to him personally and say that you are sorry he is going through a tough time and you have done what you can but can he please Ask if he needs anything in future?

It's being Christian (with a small c).

And will probably disarm him totally x

Sounds like a great idea except he's not letting in to anyone he is having a hard time he keeps bragging he's spent £450 on a holiday gave his ex £100 for a dress so I can't very well go up to him and act like he's got no money if he was honest and actually acted like he might be remorseful then I woul but as it is no why should I help a liar and a thief?

"I read down to where Vara explained to Bladey that Anti Freeze is poisonous.

I agree it's humiliating but I've told him if he needs anything ask don't just take! I'm happy enough to share if it's not all just take take take! Or should I just take £5 out of your account every week would you be happy? If he is jobless and unable to pay rent why should I have to step up to pay it for him? It's not my responsibility to look after a grown man in his mid-late 40s when I can't afford to clothe me or my children!!

-Ads

Good luck x

Spoken to the landlady she has already told me she's working on getting him out but it takes time apparently!

I've also said I do not intend on poisoning him that was another and I agree with what others have said its illegal and immoral (hence why I asked for the opinions)

As for testosterone I am the sort of person who would avoid conflict if I can for as long as I can!

I was after more of the alternative ideas for trying to get a definite of who it is and to stop the thefts than to hurt or affect anyone in a negative way

House meeting, ask for frank and open discussion around ways to prevent food going missing and ask if anyone is down on their luck and might need a helping hand. He might still do whatever he's doing but you can go forward knowing you behaved like an adult who gives a damn and whoever is taking the food gets an example of honourable behaviour. Win/win.

I really like your approach and attitude towards this. It's totally commendable. However, having been in a similar situation to the OP myself in the past I can understand how dam annoying it can be. All I can say to the OP is do what you know to be the right thing, even if it is difficult and annoying. You'll not only be a better person for it but you'll feel a better person to.

That's an excuse. If my room didn't have space for a mini fridge I'd probably move out anyway. Sockets can be freed up.

Things only remain problems when we let them remain so.

Read the above posts I've already spoken to him more than once I haven't said I'm going to lace anything with anything but the idea was tempting! I just want to be able to store my food without wondering if I'll be able to eat it when I want!"

I read them ..you just mentioned ppl can borrow things as long as they put it back. Not a direct you are taking the piss and don't touch stuff conversation .

As I said house meeting to show it's noted and not being accepted and not pointing a finger at a particular individual . Seems the logical and adult step or you can still go with wearing bagel on your cock. That's not heading for retaliations is it lol.

I've had a housemate who stole food from me. We were all students. My housemate can't have been that broke, he was out drinking more than I was. And he could afford the occasional recreational drugs as well.

I even helped him do some of his coursework.

He and his mates would nick my food. They just thought it was funny, and basically they couldn't be arsed to walk down to the shops when my food was just there. The twat nicked my chocolate. All of it. I can't function without chocolate.

Some people steal food because they are genuinely hungry and can't afford it. Some people nick food because they can't be arsed to go buy their own and these people are called "bastards".

I never got replacements bought for me either.

I don't know what I'd do tbh, except try and hide/lock away food until the landlord can get rid of him.

Or both of you look for another house share with nicer people? That's probably quicker than waiting for your landlady to get rid of him.

"At the moment I'm assuming that your confession is not actually genuine and is just a rather bad case of false bravado and something you thought would be funny to say. Maybe you should clarify."

Easy solution:

Buy a new bottle of milk, drink a little and then film yourself pissing in it to top it back up.

Leave it in the fridge and then wait to see if he drinks any.

If he does say "you didn't drink the milk did you?" When he denies it then reply with "good because I pissed in it" and watch his face...

Joking that youre the OPs second fake account and you forgot to change beforw replying as you answered a question asnif you were them."

It didn't look like you were joking and I don't think it is the first time you have accused people of being fake when you have read a comment wrong.

Maybe if you think someone is fake report the profile instead
