EU Referendum - Register by June 7th to vote!

If you are not already on the electoral register, you must register by 7 June to vote in the EU referendum.

https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

British, Irish and Commonwealth citizens over 18 who are resident in the UK, along with UK nationals living abroad who have been on the electoral register in the UK in the past 15 years can vote in this referendum.

Members of the House of Lords and Commonwealth citizens in Gibraltar will also be eligible, unlike in a general election.

Citizens from EU countries - apart from Ireland, Malta and Cyprus - will not get a vote.

Make sure you apply for a postal vote, or a proxy, if you are not able to get to your polling station on 23 June (eg. If you are at Glastonbury).

Spread the word because for once, every single vote really does count in determining the outcome.

Thank you for the reminder.

I would imagine that those interested in voting in any election will already be registered to vote.

If not, they are stoopid and should not be allowed to vote.

Well, you never know! A lot of people forget they need a postal, or proxy vote until it is too late.

I would prefer parliament debated and voted on such a huge issue. That's why they are there. Cameron and the Tories were too weak not to exclude it from their manifesto.

I registered online yesterday, it took a matter of minutes, it's worth making sure you are registered, if like me you have moved house recently

I've heard quite a few people say that. I'm not having a go but what do people who don't vote for this reason suggest as a way to persuade government to become more in tune with the people?

If people choose not to vote that's fine. The fight was for the right to vote. However I then assume those people are fine with the way the country is going and won't ever moan about anything.

But in this instance you're not voting for a government... your vote really does count. They can't do as they please in this instance; it will be a decision by the people, not just the politicians.
