Hey everyone, whats everyones thoughts on the wink thing on fab? We've received quite a few winks recently but are not sure what they are for or if we are supposed to respond to people. We don't believe we have ever winked at anyone else, so have to apologise to anyone that has winked at us if we are supposed to return the wink.

The other thing is people that friend request you who have never spoken to you before. I would guess the aim of that is to access friends only pictures? If ppl just wanna look at pictures, the internet is full of pictures of much more attractive a couple than we are....

We do tend to return winks if there is an interest, We treat it as a stepping stone.

Never understood about the friend request with no contact though..Why would ya ?

On winks, the honest answer is that they mean different things to different people. I think they are generally seen as a sign of interest, inviting a wink or message in return, but it differs from person to person. Respond to them if you want, don't if you don't want.

As for friend requests, I think some people want access to private pics, some people want you to be able to see their pics, and other people think this site is like Facebook and that friends are collectable like cards (and that a higher number of friends means more potential shags in their network). Just accept those you want and reject the rest.

Have fun!

I'm not a fan of winks tbh

half the time they are sent by people I wouldn't look twice at so I just leave them on the profile, as that way they cant wink at me again

I like winks and recognise that for many people here it's a tentative toe in the water - that could save them wasting tons of effort writing a message but never to hear back.

I check winks more than messages.

My only hesitation is getting them from profiles without pics. I can't tell if they would have me running scared ot potentially be orgasm inducing stock.

Whether it's a wink, message or whatever - it's worth taking one small step at a time.

It would be good to have the option to turn them off so people don't sit waiting for you to look at their profile.

They are just like the real world....if someone gives you a wink outside...I guess if you liked them would wink back...but if you didn't like you would ignore or maybe give them a dirty look back....but we don't have that facility here...shame

I usually use winks either,

When someone looks at my profile, but their preference doesn't match. I.e., they are looking for mf couples, so I wink to see if they might be interested.

Or they haven't bothered writing a profile describing what they are seeking , so why should I write a message. I wink them, if they wink back, we can chat.

"A simple "hello".. is better then a wink.."

Have to disagree there. A simple "hello" shouts 'boring and unimaginitive message'.Delete and forget.

Recently got one of those. My reply was just 'hi there' which they promptly deleted. Well if they didnt like my boring reply, why should we do any other to a boring initial message?

At least a wink invites us to view their profile and see if we're interested in them.

Winks are a good idea, but you never know if they have seen it. I think the can't wink them for 30 days is ok, stops being inundated with them

I can sort of understand the winks from profiles with no pics as there's usually a bit of text to read but it's the winks (and friend requests) from hidden profiles I don't understand...Or the first contacts from folk who won't meet smokers Either you meet or don't meet smokers just stop being ambiguous on your profile.

I send a wink if on reading their profile I think I may be of interest but not 100% sure. If I was then winked back I would message.

If someone winks at me, then I message back, but it has not usually gone any further.

I don't send friends requests to random people, only those I have been chatting too and then only after I ask if its ok to do so.

If I receive a random friends request from someone that I have never chatted to, then that would be deleted.

I'll send a wink to someone I like to get there attention and if they like me hopefully they would wink back or a message. Plus I also send a wink rather than writing a message. I know a lot of people think it's lazy but when you spend the time to write a message and you don't get one back. That's why I wink
