How to widen your social circle

hiding from cock pics.

I have a friend who has just moved to a new area and doesn't know many people.

He ends up going to the pub often, but he knows that's not very good for him or his wallet.

He isn't very sporty but does enjoy a game of pool or darts.. But of course that involves the pub again. He doesn't read job or play football. He was wondering what he could do to possibly widen and his social circle and keep him distracted from the pub. Do any of you have any ideas of how to make your acquaintances and friends?

Start the local park run on a Saturday morning

You don't have to be particularly sporty to do it, and he'll feel the benefits a lot more than the pub

Get a job in a pub at the weekends?

That way he gets to make money, gets a few drinks bought for him and meets people.

Volunteer work. You do something good and meet great people.

Pursue your passions too. It doesn't usually matter if obscure, there are likely other people interested too.

"I joined an over 45 social group on line "

I did something similar. Although I found groups online, we meet up. I love to knit and my designs are getting more elaborate but I struggle with some techniques and YouTube doesn't help, so I found and joined an online knitting group and we meet monthly, and meet for coffee/dinner outside that.

Same with the book club and Caribbean ladies over 50!

Perhaps op your friend could do the same, find a group on line with shared interest who meet up.

Stoke area

He could do a college course , learn a new skill.

Google "meet ups". It's a national thing were loads of local groups organising daytime and evening meets. Might be ramblers, or eating out or a mixed event group. Ideal for people new to the area.

Do voluntary work.

I would say the pub job sounds like it might do the trick also a dog is great if you have the time also maybe the darts or pool team don't need to drink to be on the team

This

I used to go to Ceroc. It's a good way to meet people in the local area but you also get the chance to travel to Ceroc party nights or weekends in other areas.
