"Yesterday he said he was not unpopular because of Iraq, he was unpopular because he won 3 elections. I hope the Chilcot report buries him." Not the first time chilcot and buried have appeared in the same sentance.....

"Yesterday he said he was not unpopular because of Iraq, he was unpopular because he won 3 elections. I hope the Chilcot report buries him." You don't win elections by being unpopular, you win them based on manifesto promises. None of those manifestos included war crimes

I will never forget the way David Kelly was ripped to shreds when trying to explain that the threat was exaggerated. Poor man. Truth and politics never mix well it seems.

"Not a fan but history doesn't lie and he was elected 3 times and that will have been by some who now slag him off.. hindsight and fickle people huh.. ![]() i did in the first 2 but not after the war, had a Labour MP try and convince me otherwise in the strangers bar in '97 during a visit that he wasn't a 'used car salesman' which was my opinion of the guy.. 'new Labour' were elected with the support of 'middle England/Britain' voters and those voters used to and probably now vote Tory or UKIP.. hopefully Chilcott will shed some light on the truth about some of the events..

"I think you might find the chilcot report is going to be a non blaming report. I'm sure that was part of the deal" i think you might find that it may well be another waste of public money and less severe in its criticisms than many of us would want.. one will see.. if anyone expects Blair to be hauled before the Hague to face any charges or even to accept he was wrong then they will be sorely disappointed as it wont happen and its not in his nature..

"Blair has to be one of the most unpopular prime ministers of the last century, I rarely hear positive remarks about him. I can't wait to read the Chilcot report. But I know that any criminal proceedings are out of the question. Even if the UK didn't have such impunity in international affairs, it's impossible to indict Blair for anything. " . Have you watched Polanskis ghost writer?? It's a very interesting plot

In response to the other thread, my son is 13, takes French at school and speaks pretty good Spanish, taught by myself from an early age after I'd spent several years living in Spain and still have a home and many Spanish friends there. His cousins are half Italian and they often joke or call eachother names in those languages and because I want out of the EU you call me a xenophobe? And don't want the best for him? You really don't know or understand anything of the problems in the EU. You think there are jobs in the EU for our children? The way the EU is run and is heading there simply aren't and it will only get worse. Can you explain why there is 50% youth unemployment in Spain? And probably the same in Greece, Italy, Portugal and probably before long France? The only way to help the youth of Europe is for a Brexit which will hopefully bring about a complete reform of the EU into what we signed up for in the first place, ie trade. Then the end of the Euro which has been a disaster for pretty much everyone other than the Germans. If you think people who want to leave the EU are xenophobes then I think the problem is more your perception of the world

Yup. They shouldn't have been let in and I'd kick them out tomorrow. Best for all involved. It does say a lot about the incompetence / corruption of the EU that they were let in. I'm still for resolving that incompetence than throwing the baby out right now. Domestic politicians are hardly awesome...

"War criminal " Blaire was not a war criminal,he was a lying two faced guy who bankrupted this country by conning people into thinking they where well off but all done on borrowing. He bankrupted the nation that is why we are suffering now,not because of tories hating the masses as some like to think, they have had no choice thanks to Blaire and Brown. This is his main crime

Firstly there was a reason why you got 800 drachma to the pound!!. Or 2500 lira or 200 peseta... You see there's a history of devaluation which is what unstable countries do, its how sovereign nations with "problems" keep going...... now if your Germany, with a very strong currency thanks to being stable and a massive exporter... You want them just like that, there not worth joining up with, if they have a strong currency as well, that's why the EU broke all the rules letting these countries join in, the Germans want to keep the euro low. Devalued currency only fucks you up when you have to import stuff... And when you run an entire continent on that currency the dream was you'd never import much but you'd export shit loads with your artificially lowered euro. Now anybody that ever visited Greece or Spain pre euro will tell you the prices there were considerably lower running there own devalued currency, when the change came, prices rose but the gdp didn't, that wouldn't last long, so they let them borrow and they let them borrow at German rates because effectively Greece, Spain and Italy were now backed by the mighty mark. When you sign up to your Faustian bargain you really should read the small print
