Have i been stung by a garage?

Took a 12 year old car into a garage i trusted, and told me the wishbone bushes were badly worn and needed changing. When i got the car back, they had replaced the whole wishbones, not just the bushes. I am now doubting their trustworthyness. Am i being too suspicious? He said they were worn out but could he mean the whole thing and not the bushes alone?

Sometimes it's easier and quicker to change the whole wishbone I know the fitters at my work do that, it actually can save cost to

I think what you might have saved on parts if it was possible to get just the bush as you can't always you'd have spent on labour. They can be a nightmare to change

It's easier and cheaper to do the full arm rather than just the bushings. If they need to be pressed in you also run the risk of splitting the old are

Is it a common issue with cars of that type and age for them to require changing?

Maybe an independent assessment if your not happy, did they show you the old ones?

Depends on the car. Newer cars usually have the complete wishbone replaced over the older cars where you remove the knackered sleeve bush and press in a new one.
