Cure for snoring?

Thought of:

Divorce, but too expensive.

Doing a Crippin, but will never meet a lady then!

There are different types of snorers, each has a different course of action to help reduce or stop the problem. When I say problem, I mean it's a problem for the bed partner, not the person snoring, of course.

Identifying which type of snorer you are is the first step and the information is out there somewhere on a proper website, with different things to help.

My partner at the time was a very loud snorer and we never slept together since day 1, apart from hotels on holiday and only then with sleeping tablets from the doctor for me. He slept through the house alarm going off outside his room one night, looking confused when I apologised the next morning for the false alarm.

So, check whether it's because it's the nose, back of the throat, tongue, on your side or back that it happens and that helps with the correct solution. Sorry I haven't mentioned the solutions, I don't remember them offhand.

Threatening to record her finally made her admit to snoring...after two years of refusing to. Best bit is the complaints I get for moving about when being woken up...because that disturbs her.

Temporary measures for the non snorer include sleeping tablets, earplugs, sleeping separately in a different room.

For the snorer, ease back or off the alcohol, use nasal strips, raise or lower the pillows, surgery to reduce loose skin inside.

I feel your suffering!

British snoring and sleep apnoea association has a website that will take you through some tests to work out what kind of snorers they are and some potential solutions. Also make an appointment with the GP for a referral to ENT in case there is a medical solution. Just enter prepared that there may well not be...I had a gum shield for a while but it makes my jaws ache. We are the worst combination, a light sleeper and a heavy snorer. My dad had surgery but it's no longer available on the NHS and has its own issues including being very painful and not really working...

Genuine situation here;

A friend of mine who I work offshore with has snored for 20 years, to the point that the guys in cabins next to him and all along the rooms corridor could hear the noise (very loud).

The same guy tripped over a kerb whilst hands in pockets and fell flat on his face, he looked like someone had attacked him with a baseball bat.

since then and that was 2 years back, he has never snored again, it is cured.

Hardly have sex now didn't have any when I tried that also going to sleep first doesn't work either, snoring can be louder than pneumatic drill, worst than alarm clock on a Monday morning

Nothing worse than sleep deprivation mate as you know.

It's affects you mentally and physically.

Not alot you can do rally apart from separate rooms or split up.

I chose the latter as even when she was in spare room I could here her snoring so for my own health reasons I had to get rid of her.

Sleep Apnea is actually really dangerous and can kill people.. so although you all may joke about it id advise the wife to get it checked out medically.

Im sure its an inconvenience to you that she wakes you but she must be feeling dreadful day to day with lack of full and deep sleep.

Other that a CPAP machine that she'd need to visit a Respiritory Doctor for try getting her to sleep more upright in bed so her throat isn't so closed off or restricted by fat

Diet to loose weight

You can get 'Gum Shield' (like Rugby Players wear) that change slightly the position of the Jaw so the airway remains wider. Think you can get them at some Boots stores.

Ok, I didn't think this would work either but Boots(and other places) sell a ring that goes on the snorers little finger and I'm told it either goes altogether or is greatly reduced. I can't tell because I'm asleep but it's been working for 3 weeks now. Costs about £30, but it really works..

Snoring cannot be helped as a rule and no control over it. I snore and my ex used to record and wake me to shame me...was very demoralising and at times upsetting...now I am single ( have been for 5 years and not due to snoring lol) I won't let anyone stay over as so paranoid over it.. most people snore though...just my little input here

Feel for you...had years of bad sleep due to a snoring partner, omg sleep deprivation sucks.

Had to result to a combo of the settee and the cats on me or a hot alcoholic drink occasionally to sleep.

And they are all happy in the morning and your like grrrrrrr

I know how u feel my mom and step dad live with me n my kid and dam my step dad can snore bad even with my door shut my moms door shut n headphones in i can still hear him keeps me awake most nights. Seems also they get louder when u try to make them stop

My snoring was so bad,I emptied a whole hotel on holiday in Turkey,honestly. The answer was an operation of cutting out my extended roof palate of my mouth,as well as my tonsilles. Result was you can hardly hear me breathing while I sleep.

VB is an occasional snorer, only when she's lying in a very specific way.

I've taking to stroking her face with my fingertips. She startles into another position, the snoring stops and I get a little guilty pleasure.

I was snoring and waking up still tired for ages, thought I might have sleep apnea. The doctor checked my nose said it was blocked, so for the next couple of months I have nasal spray and tablets and have to do a nasal rinse every day. Its worked and o feel so much better and sleep better.

The full effect may not be noticeable for 2 weeks so I'll keep you posted.

If you sleep on your sides you can stop the snoring but if you sleep on your back it can go on all the time so a woman I was with had to put me that way so she said
