Why do people post a question then finish off with 'discuss'

It's a forum. What else would you do ?

Some people make comments unrelated to the post.

Some ball bearings and a quart of Quaker State should free up that Fetzer valve.

That's true of most forums.

On here though lots of men won't reply at all unless it's to and / or quoting a lady so totally overlook anything other men say, and when they do reply chances are it'll be to shamelessly flirt with said female rather than answer the question in point.

So in this context it seems a valid statement to make

They are employed to set exam questions and can't switch off at the end of the day.

I think that too. If any body puts "discuss" at the end of their post I always feel less replying "no".

It’s because they are just out of school/college and think it sounds intellectual

I've noticed that! Some men are terrified of being seen interacting with a bi guy. I post on a thread, a couple of ladies do too and the guy is all over them and Mr Invisible sits here laughing. Not quite so masculine then if they are scared of that, eh?

I don't find it a particularly inviting or engaging form of communication - I don't think it reflects well on the poster, seemingly more desperate for attention.

Why do people start a thread asking a question and then don't come back to the thread?

Discuss or don't discuss, I don't really care

A well placed Fletch quote (almost) never goes amiss in a forum post!
