Excuse me ! If you will allow me to interject there.. NORTH liverpudlians ! That awful sound is a direct influence of the danish settlers to the north of the city.

I am from the south.. where the Irish settled. I get accused of not having a scouse accent but everybody at my end of the city speaks like me.

Adore - South African, Liverpudlian, Brum, Geordie.

Dislike - Welsh, Scottish, Irish (although it does depend on the guy) and I tend to avoid Yorkshire (close relative has that accent and I don't want to be thinking of them all through a meet!).

A soft Irish lilt, or French accent speaking English does it for me. I am not fond of strong unintelligible accents no matter where they are from. Other than that I'm pretty ambivalent. I have a slight scouse accent these days having spent 34 years living away from Liverpool and as Tsue Nami says it was a soft scouse accent as I am from the South of the city.

I tend to like English accents in general, and Russian accents on women. Australian/New Zealand is really cool, too. I've often thought the Irish accent sounded sort of musical.

I used to work at a hotel, and occasionally, we had English guests from the UK. I always tried to strike up conversations with people from across the pond. You all sound extremely intelligent to us Yanks, to the point where you could say something completely ridiculous or pointless, but it will still sound interesting and correct!

When I was a young child many years ago, my cousins and I used to always play Army, and I was forever pretending to be a British officer!

As far as accents that actually annoy? I have to go with a really heavy New York ( USA ) accent! Ugghh!!

Scouse & London accents grate on me but it wouldn't stop me from meeting.

I would just have to be ready - as soon as their mouth opened ... whoomph, stick me cock in it

"My knickers fly off instanteously at the gentle sexy lilt of a Scottish accent, the cheeky Geordie accent and anyone who sounds like Ray Winstone because he is just dirty!

Failing that.... Jason Statham for his accent, hot body, face, shaved head ......all of him!!!!

"

I've got a shaved head, So I assume there's hope.

"I love the Irish accent on a woman a.d hate a scally scouse accent on a woman

Most of the scouse accent most people here is the scally one and it really annoys me when people say we sound like scalls

Not all of us speak like

"Eerrr u wot laar""

Thank you ! The scallies are NORTH ENDERS

"I can feel a rant coming on.. well, it IS Thursday. What part of "there are two distinctive scouse accents" don't you peeps understand. The awful guttural accent as heard from eg Steven Gerrard is NORTH Liverpool.

We don't ALL sound like a rusty bandsaw going through a frozen turnip

Ha ha that's the one the nice soft scouse oh god it does do it for me"

given half a chance I would

NW London

I like to think that I speak quite nicely n proper but everyone else keeps saying that I have a heavy London accent and I sound like a right geezer.

On others I pretty much like all accents especially the distinctive and expressive ones, I think they have a lot of character. I dislike lit when someone tries too hard to hide their accent or dialect so I'm not a great fan of received pronunciation.

Oh and as I'm going to Birmingham in a couple of weeks now might be a good time to say that I luuuurrrve the Brummie accent on a lady

That said, someone who is described as being 'well-spoken' is VERY different to 'received pronunciation'. For example, Prince Charles sounds like a constipated buffoon with a stutter! Like his father, Phil!

Wills and Harry thankfully haven't inherited their fathers voice!
