So the Chinese are starting to use the corneas from pigs to alleviate blindness in humans

We've been using pig derived insulin for many years, but is this the next logical step, or too Frankenstein for you ?

My father is partially sighted and he would happily have a pigs cornea if it worked, I think I would too.

Pig hearts and valves too.

Who cares if it works?

And haven't they been using pig heart valves in humans for some time or have I been dreaming things up again?

"And haven't they been using pig heart valves in humans for some time or have I been dreaming things up again?"

Yep. Porcine and bovine valves, or mechanical valves.

There's actually a YA novel about it - The Pig Heart Boy by Mallorie Blackman.

There's no meal that can't be improved by bacon. It appears the same can be said about transplants.

Anyone who is against it is a hypocrite because they wouldn't say no if it improved the life of a loved one.

I misread senior rabbis as senior rabbits

If it becomes part of the body, then it's clean. Also it's not really the same as eating it so shouldn't be considered in the same way.

If you have a pig's ear as a transplant, will you get unwanted attention from dogs ?

I think the idea behind using pig body-parts in human transplants is to solve the housing crisis.

We can then have houses made of straw, of sticks.....

Most of the research around organ transplant (xenotransplantation) was moved from the UK to America because of a catalogue of the reported appalling animal cruelty/ welfare issues.
