I was going to give this the slightly more poetic thread name 'Shaking the Tree', but no one visits my threads when I give them nice names

I was fortunate enough to have a couple of women catch my eye on the last thread, so, lets see if I can encourage any further lovelies out of hiding...

Think single men stay away from the forums, any slightly controversial comment or idea is immediately shot down by the forum police, plus most of the guys are on fab to get meets, forum usage wastes a lot of "copy & paste" time! Not that there is anything wrong with copy & paste, who would want to physically type hundreds of messages with very little chance of a reply? X

There are very few local women I fancy, and those who catch my eye are unresponsive. To be totally honest, I think online swinging is inherently flawed, and almost entirely pointless for single males.

Awaits predictable response...

Mostly if they're single males, a good looking woman will usually be welcomed with open arms - by myself included, though my interest will end swiftly if I don't find her character intriguing also.

Single males who want to use the forums regularly will have to learn how to stand their ground and fight back against all the sniping, especially if they're open about their desire to find sexual partners on here and not just chit chat, there's a strong element of the social club here, outsiders aren't welcome.

Exactly what I said last time there was an newbie appeal. A lot of the time, the original question/point gets hidden/lost amongst the general chit chat from the regulars, who pretty much ignore the rest of us anyway, so I tend to lose interest in joining in x

Think of it more like starting a new job where the people all sort of know each other and have little jokes etc. Some have even fucked each other. Once you get used to it and people get used to you, it becomes easier to interact.

I try not to quote anyone due to the limited amount of responses each thread can have, especially if it seems like it's going to be a popular thread. I do acknowledge and read every comment though. If you notice I'm more inclined to quote or converse with someone that's trying to argue with me.

You have two choices in here.

You either shy away from posting in the forums because of feeling your going to get put down etc as mentioned by people earlier in this thread.

Or you stand your ground which can results in some heated exchanges of words. That doesn't make that person automatically a dick or aggressive for standing up for themselves.

Some people can't be arsed with the drama that can arise by posting in the forums and that's why they don't post in them anymore as they have already mentioned on this thread.

Most people don't have the time to constantly be on here, so when you do make the odd comment it usually gets ignored as it gets swamped in the regulars backwards and forwards posts.

Most of the threads are full of the one liners which really should be in PMs. For those not involved in the regulars in jokes it makes for very boring reading.

The Town by The Cross

There are so many people that come and go and change names that I never know who is new and who isn't.

Makes no odds to me. New or Not..... it's a forum.

As for getting ignored or shot down - it's mostly perception in a situation of uncertainty.

There are a few human beings who put the feelings of others first.

Just a few mind and probably not the ones repeatedly screaming how lovely they are.

"There are so many people that come and go and change names that I never know who is new and who isn't.

"I've stopped trying to join in with these threads recently as they seem very clicky and newbies as I was then, just seem to be ignored,,sorry but it does feel a little like that sometimes "

If there was an option to 'Like' posts I think many people would be pleasantly surprised that they are noticed and liked.

I like lots of posts but usually just comment on one. I don't pay much attention to who said it though- unless I find myself agreeing (or disagreeing) too much with one person, in case they think I'm a mad stalker.

"Most people don't have the time to constantly be on here, so when you do make the odd comment it usually gets ignored as it gets swamped in the regulars backwards and forwards posts.

Most of the threads are full of the one liners which really should be in PMs. For those not involved in the regulars in jokes it makes for very boring reading."

Totally agree the forums have become a closed shop for the "in Crowd" only. I can't believe you are calling for new blood when anyone new is ignored or shouted down by the so called regulars who own the forums holding court over anyone new who dares to encroach on their territory.

A bit like this thread then? I see a few newcomers popping up here and then, but otherwise, it's the same old same old, saying the same old same old.

I join in when and if I can, but only on certain threads that interest me. I tend not to be looking to meet anyone from the forums, or anywhere else, so its not that agenda for me. An interesting debate is ... often get fed up with people taking things personally and rude people who resort to personal insults, that's from someone who has been on the forums for a year .... more rude people here than ever and less who can have a proper debate without it getting personal. I haven't red the whole thread, so its not aimed at anyone in particular, in case anyone thinks it is

I wouldn't say the forums are dying, however there is certainly a dearth of decent conversation. If you look through the threads that are there at the moment and they are mostly quite banal.

My opinion is that this is a consequence of many people not wishing to start a thread of any substance because they know they will be shouted down and personally insulted along with their profile ripped to shreds.

I've always found that forum life takes time to bed yourself in properly. If you walked up to a group of people in a real life situation who all knew each other well and instantly tried to become too familiar with them they would react defensively.

You have to do it gradually and gracefully, and actively work towards not pissing people off by demanding to be included.

That's my take on it anyway.

Not exactly new here but I tend to post and sod the consequences - albeit living within the site rules. I don't intend in life to do anything other than respect others and realise that I'm never going to be everyones' cup of tea.

It's great to see old and new people posting - you get to know people a little more this way. Perhaps the site could offer those - perhaps annoying - popups or something, that would inform users that Fab has a great Forum. This would likely get more into the area, though I think only validated users can actually post here.

I love threads with a bit of substance, about issues surrounding swinging though ... not about politics in general. But, things get very personal, people take offense and start name calling or can't follow through on their point .... I don't start too many threads because I am so on and off here .... I agree there seems to be a core of people who post on the more 'banal' but they are here for the social community the forums bring, even if its a virtual one.

I've been here two years now (new pro same name) and I've always enjoyed the forums even when as a newbie I struggled to be heard/seen. Some times I still struggle now but the best advice I was given was to persevere as it does take time to be noticed on here. But don't think that is unique to this forum because it isn't. In fact it's often said that fab has some of the internets friendliest members and I do belive that is true because let's face it to be a swinger is to be trusting to those who you are inviting into the most personal aspects of your life.

So newbies persevere with the forums because those of you who are likeable will be welcomed in with open arms. Xxx

i find the forums have the better people on fab, people with something to say, not your type you get in your inbox, hi x , meet now, etc. as for clique we all started at one point new to forums, and dont be bothered if your likeable or not, you probably never meet them all in person

It's a shame people feel put off from posting on the forums as it's nice to have new topics and debates from other people rather than the same ones.

As when it's the same people posting the same things over and over again the forums become stale and stagnant.

Have you noticed people are recently resorting to resurrecting old threads out of sheer boredom in the forums?

If someone new wants to join in in the forums they will.

If they are interesting or funny or in some way engaging they will enjoy it.

If they are negative types who expect red carpet treatment and whinge if they don't get it then they won't.

It's life, it's like being the new kid at school or starting anew job. No one is interested in you unless you are interesting back.
