If you're of a nervous disposition, turn away now

I currently have a proper doozey of one, right where my thigh and pubic mound meet, though it looks all pussy and hurts like a bitch so I'm feeling too much of a wimp to sort it out. I get them pretty regularly no matter what I do. Any tips to avoid them or get rid of them faster?!

You'll always get them if you continue removing hair. You can lessen them by buying ingrown hair lotions, exfoliating, shaving with the grain, moisturising but nothing will ever work 100%.

See a doctor if it looks angry and infected. Try either tea tree oil which has mild antiseptic properties if it is mild, might need dose of antibiotics if it looks angry and infected or might need it cut / drained if it is hurting like a bitch. If it waint getting better, it's getting worse!!!

Endure the pain for now and sort it out.

Some will always be prone to this when shaving no matter what is done.

Perhaps stick to trimming?

Northampton Somewhere

If its not too big you can deal with it yourself. Have a really long hot shower or bath. Afterwards hold a mega hot flannel on the area and then.....This is the bit give it a little squeeze. Then put some tea tree on or savlon on.

If it's massive though I'd go to see a nurse as soon as x

Exfoliate, go gentle as the skin is obviously quite thin in this area, a mixture of cocnut oil, tea tree oil and sugar will leave your skin feeling lovely and the tea tree oil has antibacterial and anti fungal properties.

Do this regularly and ingrown hairs should be gone quite quickly, I whip up coconut oil with tea tree oil and use as a shaving oil, just add a spoonful of sugar to a large spoonful of mix and voila, you have a scrub

Magnesium paste is great for drawing out foreign bodies like splinters so should work on hair. It's pretty cheap from any pharmacy.

Otherwise a sterile sewing needle & tweezers.

Break the skin, tease the hair up with the needle & pluck out with the tweezers.

Et voila

Yeah kitty still had to op to clean it out and left as an open wound to be redressed every day for about 3 weeks, her sister had one under her arm that didn't heal at all and had to have it re cleaned 7 or 8 months later.

Oh, I've done that before

I actually had an ingrown hair in another delicate place last year, I ended up having to dig under the skin to get rid of it completely.

Chams or Socials

I'm terrible for squeezing them Try scratching the top off either with your nail, a pair of nail scissors or tweezers. Then tweeze the hair out. Clean with salt water. Invest in a good exfoliator or give the area a good scratch every now & then to loosen the hairs

Tips for shaving genital area...

1. Hot water. Not warm.

2. Put baby oil in the hot water to get a better glide

3. Use a GOOD razor; sharp blade. Men's face razors are good as they are designed for sensitive skin and contours (my preference i's a sensor or cuthroat)

4. Thoroughly wash the area before beginning shaving, dry, and then rub baby oil into the skin until absorbed.

5. Clean razor after each pass (get the hairs out of the blades).

6. If hair is very long use a electric beard trimmer or similar to a grade of 2 or so.

7. After shaving pat with warm/hot water and dry.

8. You guessed it; more baby oil, massaged into the skin.

Shaved "down there" since I was 23, no spots, no ingrown hairs and never had an STI (!! )

dry shave with a new razor

never use a razor more than once

dont go against the grain

shower or take a bath after not before

exfoliate and moisturize the area the day after never on the day you did it

trust me

I used to get them on my neck but following some advice I now hot towel and use a menthol shaving gel (king of Shaves) and haven't had one since. I use the same method when tidying the area around Little Doctor Prod (being careful with the hot towels)

Yes, they can hurt. Hot water, tea trea oil. A tongue (only kidding).

Of course, in-growing hairs lead to STI's. If you take an unprotected cock up your bottom.

Wonderland

I have an honest to God solution that has worked for me a fair few times and like you, I've had them proper nasty, doc had to drain one once .

I've tried so many things .... Magnesium/Epsom salts in my bath, Boots ingrown hair stuff (which is supposed to prevent them rather than make them go away), all sorts of scrubs and what nots, but now I treat them similarly as I do any new piercing.

Clean twice a day with a sea salt solution (quarter of a teaspoon of sea salt to one cup of boiling water, don't make it too strong or it dries out your skin).

Dip some cotton wool in the hot water so its soaking wet and squeeze out any excess so it's not dripping all over you. Leave the cotton wool on the area for a about 20 seconds as hot as you can bear so it draws the impurities to the top.

After cleaning, I put a couple of drops of tea tree oil on a cotton wool ball and tape it on with some of that white surgical tape. I usually leave it on overnight/throughout the day. After the first day it's amazingly improved but doing it for a couple more days is advisable.

Now for a silly sounding bit. If it's very swollen and hard and isn't going down, get some water soluble aspirin (not paracetamol). With a wet cotton bud, make a little paste with the aspirin and apply to the area. Again you might want some of that surgical tape so it stays in place. Leave it on overnight and you should see an improvement the following day (it's recommended for treating keloids, the hard white lumps that sometimes form around piercings).

Both have worked wonders for me every time I've suffered with the little (sometimes enormous) blighters.

Do I need to say im not a doctor
