Wouldnt the carb just be what you served it with? Any meat and veg is pretty low carb in a curry. More slow burning carbs if you add lentils or chick peas to the dish.

Serve it with wholemeal chapatis - medium carb in those.

Ingredients

1 cup nonfat plain yogurt

3/4 cup water

2 Tbsp low-sodium tomato paste

2 Tbsp peeled and finely chopped fresh ginger

4 cloves garlic, peeled and finely chopped

1 Tbsp peanut oil

2 lb lean lamb, cubed

1 cinnamon stick

3 cloves

1 Tbsp curry powder

1 Tbsp low-calorie fruit chutney

1 Tbsp lemon juice

Directions:

Mix together the yogurt, water and tomato paste.

Peel and chop finely the ginger and garlic. Add to yogurt mixture and combine well.

Heat oil in a large non-stick skillet, add the meat, a few cubes at a time, and cook over a high heat until well colored. Remove the meat from the pan and place on a plate. Repeat the process until all meat is cooked.

Add a little more oil to the pan if it is dry. Fry the cinnamon stick, cloves and curry powder in the pan for 30 seconds. Add the yogurt puree, fruit chutney and meat. Bring to a boil.

Cook, uncovered over a low heat until the meat is tender, approximately 5 minutes. Remove the lid and cook rapidly to reduce some of the sauce.

Season the curry with a little lemon juice to give it a fresh, tart taste, remove the cinnamon stick.

Serve with Steamed Basmati or pappadoms or green beans.

75g/3oz fat-free natural yogurt

2 tsp mild chilli powder

2 tsp ground coriander

2 tsp ground cumin

4 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed

½ tsp tumeric

600g/1lb 6oz lamb neck fillet or leg steak, all visable fat removed

300g/11oz onions, peeled and finely chopped

2 tbsp tomato purée

salt

Fry Light

3 dried bay leaves, crumbled

6 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed

5cm/2in cinnamon stick

4 cloves

½ tsp grated nutmeg

2 tbsp freshly chopped mint leaves

4 tbsp freshly chopped coriander leaves

look at atkins currys and just convert it to lamb instead of chicken. Atkins curry is AMAZING! was on atkins diet for 3 months and it was good for me. all low or no carbs stuff.

Thanks, We're scoured all the recipes on the atkins web site - need a bit more inspiration! some of their recipies are quite high though which is odd! Z

ah i had the atkins diet book - the recipe one it was double cream, curry powder and stuff. would give you recipe but book is abroad and i got a crap memory!

If you use summat like pataks curry paste....do as i do and dont add calories

I stick required amount of paste in my blender...add a tin of toms, i onion slice and wizz it....

Then i slowly cook it out in a saucepan...

Add meat and simples

Ps...I dont prefry my meat either and the flavour leeches into the curry.

Low Carb Easy Lamb Curry

Ingredients (serves 6)

¦125ml (1/2 cup) beef stock

¦1 large brown onion, chopped

¦2 garlic cloves, crushed

¦2 (300g each) lamb eye of loin (backstraps)

¦2 tbs mild curry paste (Patak’s brand)

¦1 400g can Italian diced tomatoes

¦Salt and freshly ground black pepper

¦Cooked basmati rice, to serve

¦Fresh coriander sprigs, to garnish

¦1 200g container skim milk natural yoghurt, to serve

Method

•Place the stock, onion and garlic in a medium non-stick saucepan. Cover and bring to the boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and cook, covered, for 6 minutes or until the onion is soft.

•Meanwhile, cut the lamb into 3cm pieces and combine with curry paste.

•Transfer the onion mixture to a bowl. Heat the pan over medium-high heat and add a third of the lamb. Cook, tossing occasionally, for 1 minute or until the lamb is just sealed all over. Transfer the lamb to a plate and repeat with the remaining lamb in 2 more batches.

•Return the onion mixture to the pan and stir in the tomatoes. Bring to the boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low and cook, partially covered, stirring often, for 6 minutes or until sauce thickens slightly. Stir in lamb and cook, uncovered, stirring often, for a further 2 minutes or until lamb is cooked to medium rare. Taste and season with salt and pepper.

•Place the rice in serving bowls. Spoon the curry over the rice and top with the coriander. Serve immediately with the yoghurt.

Have you tried it with fish instead of lamb..

I so love fish curry.. made properly though, not how its prepared in takeaways for the general public.

I used to get cooked a pot by an old lady who was a friend of my mothers.. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm devine. and her home made chipaties.. mmmm

Pray tell us the error of our ways.

My curry has very little fat and carbs.

Hence low carb and low fat.
