Average petrol prices have broken through the 6 quid mark. This impacts on ALL of us. Scandalous!

Thinking in gallons is pretty scarey now - was 35p a gallon when I learned to drive!!! I learned about conversion cons when decimalisation came about when I was at school. I duly handed my one and a half new pee over for the fare after doing the conversion myself and the conductor asked for another half pence as they were rounding UP the prices. So decimalisation and a price hike!!!

Conditioning is a clever tool. We are used to just looking up at the huge bonnie signs that tell us a price and as per litre price climbed sharply up to per gallon price we didnt register. When Spice put it into gallon terms I was shocked!!!

£6.00 a gallon is bloody ridiculus but the word is it could be £2.00 a ltre or £10.00 a gallon .if it ever happens the world would go into a dble dip reccesion and everyone would be out of a job

How can everyone be out of a job just because of a double dip recession? We might all go on strike if it goes up to two quid a gallon.

I think we should do as the government wants and all decide to use public transport for the day and leave all cars at home. Then tell the boss we couldnt get in because there was insufficient public transport.

Lets do it on April 1st - who's in? Someone ring The Sun.

The reason there isn't normally enough public transport is because there isn't normally enough demand for more services.

Get a decent flexitime system going and lose the commitment to morning and evening rush hours and life would be a lot better for a lot of folk.

I have a full time job but i also work shifts in a pub as i have a lot of debt which i am paying off, doing the pub shifts is the only way i can do it, the problem now is that at the price of petrol, some shifts are just not worth going in for and im beginning to think i should walk, downside is that i dont fancy that at 1am on friday nights

That might very possibly be true but Osborne has factored in the anticipated income from duty etc on fuel.

As far as he's concerned the 'lost' income would have to be made up somewhere else and just saying "they get enough revenue as it is" isn't going to cut it.

The government make you pay 58.95p fuel tax on every litre of petrol. Look at this compared to other countries! surely there's room for huge cuts without affecting the Exchequer's income to much????? Problem solved

We need to spend more money....

on a bigger wall, the current one isn't big enough for all the lawyers, politicians and now bankers

PS: on gallons as a unit of measure, which one, the US or UK one? Google does a pretty good job of doing conversions for you though!
