Is the art of conversation dying due to text messaging?

I remember that I could tell over 100 jokes from memeory but now they're all stored in my phone's memory.

I still frequent the pub after work to meet friends but will the generation below mine have the same social interaction?

What direction do you think we are going?

Oh God no...could chat for England. What I do find is telephone numbers: sadly I don't know the numbers of my children, family or friends - with the execption of my sister who lives in Italy and my ex husband's office number!

You moaners n tutters would probably get your rocks off by carving messages on stone tablets and tying them to a pigeons leg.

Send your washing machines back n beat your laundry on the riverside rocks or shush moanin.....

Actually make sure you store them on 3 devices. 1) The PC 2)Removable/external Hard Drive 3) Burn to DVD.

For the latter store in a cool dark place otherwise it won't last too long.

Although there is a really serious problem with digital storage of information (I work in IT btw). You could find pictures and documents from your grandparents and still read/see them. Could you say the same for digital pictures in the next 10/20 years? Hell try finding a PC with a floppy drive in in nowerdays!

There are some research projects that aim to help future civilisation recover the data from the past. This involves a Russian doll approach where the first document is in simple English on some robust substrate which explains how to read or build a device to read the next layer in. So on and so on until you have built precision electronics to read xyz data storage devices.

Ok, I could cure anyone's insomnia... I'll get my coat!
