I never really saw the point of any of them apart from 2, 4 and the big drilly one. These three solved all the problems while the others just fannied around waggling their arms up and down. Lazy bastards.

Ty

(Though even as a kid I wondered why, as soon as the drilly-bit hit the rock, it didn't jam, and the body of the machine start spinning instead. That's what my Black n Decker does!

("Errr, Help? Brains? It's spinning again" said whoever drove the mole, waggling his arms madly like the Scousers on Harry Enfield)

"The mole has tracks on the sides to grip the sides of the hole "

Wasn't that a separate bit that it slid off?

I suppose there could have been shear-keys between the mole and the undercarriage, but as a kid I didn't know about shear-keys

Mine was always Thunderbird 3.

Interesting that the Tracy boys were named after some of the Mercury Astronauts

1. Scott (Carpenter)

2. Virgil (Grissom)

3. Alan (Shepard)

4. Gordon (Cooper)

5. John (Glenn).

And talking of Stingray....isn't it strange that Troy Tempest and Phones looked like John Travolta and George W Bush?
