A quango med might be a 3/4 level tea spoon of bi-carbonate of soda dissolved water water. Cyclists use it to get lactic acid out of their muscles ?

They're a laxative but just supply magnesium which you can get cheaply in many forms, and muscles short of magnesium can be tight or twitchy.

Good chinese herbal medicine can address this in some cases.

Runcorn

I suffer from this on a regular basis Plays absolute havoc with sleep patterns. One tip I've found to work is either deep freeze or biofreeze gel applied liberally to the legs (biofreeze seems to do a better job but it's expensive). Obviously it's quite a strong smell so not for everyone!!

My husband has this. If you google, there's a quite a bit of evidence that magnesium supplements help.

Wakefield

Solution that works for many drink tonic water that contains quinine, some of the brands don’t seem to contain enough but Schweppes and Asda own brand are good

I'm also a fellow suffer, eat bananas, drink tonic water. Mine can flare if I use the vibroplate to exercise, and the main trigger is when my iron count is low, so try an some vitamin supplements or iron tablets or iron rich foods.

I hope this is some help x

ive heard caffeine is bad if you suffer with RLS, not sure if you have coffee much but having less might be something to try, also iron tablets help so im told by a work friend who has the same as you xx

It's actually caused by being over tired not under tired, so don't try wearing them out!

Oh I empathise with you OP!

I have MS and one of the symptoms I suffer with is RLS. Horrible and happens daily. I rarely get time off from it

Perhaps ask your GP about Gabapentin. I was prescribed it, started working like a dream but then I got a rash and had to stop. I wish I could still use it as it worked so well.

A xx

I'm wondering if the reason mine are so bad at the moment is cus its been in the last week i have stopped taking gabapentin ! I was given it following my operation using it for pain but had slowly stopped taking it over the past month.

Stress causes it also I had a restless arm last nite also it's linked to fibrmyloga. Try opening a window as to cool air helps.

Also as above

Mag sups

Tonic water

Bananas

Freeze gel. Xxx

I have had this since a teenager. Tried no remedies at all. The only thing that works is if I start getting tired at night I go to bed before it kicks in or it's like Riverdance under the duvet.

Wow thanks guys, already on the magnesium, and drink plenty of fluids before bed, may be a trip too the docs, although il probabaly just get prescribed anti-depressants like they do for everything nowadays!!

I have tried everything suggested but nothing worked except taking a Nytol to get me off to sleep.

I hadnt had any problems with it since mid March when i had my operation and was put on Gabapentin to help with the pain. I didnt know it was a drug that could help with restless legs but it seem to have done so without me knowing as its only started up since i came off the drug !

I was reluctant to come off it anyway as i am still in lots of pain from the operation but the doc told me i had too. I think i need to go back again !
