snap will play about with colour light and shade in lightroom but altering body shapes etc nah dont see the point

It's the liquify filter

However, remember that cameras will make whatever is closer to the camera bigger by comparison, so a slight tilt forwards from the waist can also help.

I once used photoshop for a forum avatar challenge. Never again kept losing an arm. I will use b/w or fade filters will not clarify my pics or smooth them out. I put up pictures I like and if others do that's fine.

I don't really look at them....however they aren't hurting me or my enjoyment of the site so let them carry on...

Meanwhile, I'll continue putting up my, sometimes heavily, filtered pictures (i wish i had the skills/app to make my flab disappear but until i do I'll just make use of the angles

)

Thank you. I didn't mention any individual pics, it was just a general question.

Careful cropping, nice lighting and breathing in (lol) can all be done in front of someone one meets. Harder to digitally manipulate yourself in front of someone.

Playing with lighting levels and judicious cropping is the best use of PS. As others have said - if you can't look like your pics when you meet someone, what's the point?

That's a generous offer.

I find it really sad that the media and product sales have influenced expectations, so that many want to become unhealthy. I may one day have a model shoot and am interested in what it could achieve but I'm a warts and all girl, so also like emphasising my imperfections too. (there are a few!)

It's certainly amazing what computer software can achieve though - it's mind boggling to an outsider.
