"Will it ever stop. "

No.

But you are still more than 20 times more likely to die driving than flying.

But in this day and age you would think they had other ways of tracking a downed plane.

Like how the police never had a linked national criminal database until holly and jessica. It just seems so common sense that you presume it exists

A plane from Paris to Cairo has disappeared off radar just off the coast of Egypt

No messages from the crew. I suspect a missile or bomb.

It's not been missing for long. They should be able to trace the (presumed) crash site shortly ss the Med is relatively shallow compared to the depths of the Indian Oceam where MH370 disappeared.

RIP to the victims whatever caused the incident.

if it was sabotage, they must be getting more crafty, as id would have thought airport security was water tight

Air Egypt don't have a great record at the moment after the hijacking recently. It has been reported that three security officers were onboard. A strange statement to make

No international flights move without them onboard.

Standard practice

Still at cruising altitude with 40 mins flight time left seems a long time to have a bomb on board, do you not think?

your forgetting something like that costs money and nobody airlines airports or governments are prepared to pay for it

I think it was a bomb designed to go off mid sea - a few minutes delay for any reason can add a lot of miles to a location.

Seems a ridiculous over reaction. Follow that logic to it's natural conclusion and you'd never leave your house

Compared to the size of an ocean a plane is tiny. Factor in the speed they are travelling at (a mile is covered in a handful of seconds) and they are the proverbial needle in a haystack once contact is lost

Listening to the latest reports it seems that, for whatever reason, the plane broke up in mid air. So I would expect quite a large debris field.

On the news they said that someone had reported fire in the sky. Reports say it came down 50 miles east of Crete.

if it was a bomb it would be timed poss to go off over water, aircraft travel about 9 miles a minute so debris would scatter a good few miles, i watch 6pm news tonight for update

Glastonbury

The risk of death on an aeroplane or train is so small as to be effectively zero.

Coaches and buses produce 0.3 fatalities per billion passenger kilometres of travel, cars are nearly ten times more dangerous than this, walking and cycling 100 times and motorcycles more than 300 times.

There is risk, and then there is the perception of risk.

Sounds like they expect it to be a terrorist bomb. The British passenger on it had two children too. One not even a month old.
