Advice to your younger self

Hey

So I'm liking spending some time on the forum (feeling down and really low), but surprisingly it has cheered me up slightly.

Got a question for you guys. If you could give your younger self some advice what would it be and why?

Mine would be to stand up for myself and not take for an answer, since I've always let people walk over me leading to my current low self confidence etc.

Hope everyone's having a good evening. X

Don't get married, listen to what your friends and family think about your potential husband.

Although with out that I wouldn't had my children.

I see what you're saying as I'm sure many men and women could relate that to bad bfs and gfs.

I like that you've highlighted the positive that came from the negative.

Where to start?!! So many mistakes made down the years that I'd advise myself against making, but then you have to wonder if you didn't make those mistakes what others would have been made instead, and what would be missing from your current life that wouldn't have happened without them!! And now my brain hurts and I need a lie down, so will settle for telling myself not to always be a twat!!

If I could go back in time and give myself one piece of advice it would be go back to the hospital when my daughter was 10 year old and demamd they operated on here

You trust the doctors and surgeons but they aren't always right, knowing what I know now I'd have taken her round every hospital in the country till somebody agreed to help us

Mine would be, don't keep fucking that guy- he will never want you.

And, don't marry that man just because you don't think you're worthy of anyone else.

However, I do like to believe things happen for a reason. So maybe those choices are what led me to the happy life I have now.

My God, I could. write war and piece on this and I'm a bloke.

Breathe ....

If you want kids of your own, don't get involved with a woman with kids from other guys (generalisation - my mistake)

Don't support their kids (even though you care for them) into their late 20's

Learn to pick yourself up when you feel used and abused.

Still, your life can't be any worse than mine lol

Now, where's that depression thread as I need to be on it

Don't Marry????

At work about 6 months back, I was sat in office with 4 of the girls at work all aged about 50-60, one was due to retire and was asked 'any regrets!'

She said she would never have married, one by one all of the others agreed...

I'd like to think that this stemmed from 1960's/70's when equality, well it hardly existed and expectations on a wife/mother/partner were ridiculously burdensome....this is just a though before I get into deep water

I wouldn't really change anything as it is that journey that has made me the me I am now. But...

1) Stop listening to your mad family calling you fat at a size 8;

2) The first time you swallow all those pills tell someone and get some help;

Advice to self at various times up to around mid 30s:

1. Go to uni sooner, not later

2. Look in the mirror with appreciation not disgust - you'll never look this good again

3. Believe that when people speak to you it's probably because they like you and not because you're a charity case or a bet

4. Tell your dad you love him and see him more before it's too late

5. Save wisely, don't fritter

6. Don't give proven bastards second chances

7. Don't beat yourself up about your sexual self

8. Take every opportunity to travel before kids
