If you are chatting to couple or single that live far away and you all seem to get on would you travel and meet up ?

If so how far would you travel ?

No, keep it local (30mins I think). Always think further smacks of desperation, unless you happen to be in a city that take an hour to cross - i.e. london.

No way. I have very limited time as it is so wouldn't dream of spending my leisure time travelling for a meet.

However, I think I would view it differently if I didn't have a full time job and children. If I had more free time then I don't see why I couldn't combine a meet with a shopping trip to another city!

We would'nt say its desperation its about if theres a spark not just a meet because thay are local thats more of despertion we think.

And we are not saying you 2 are

Pretty certain I didn't even imply that meeting someone local should only be because they are local? Of course people should choose selectively.

There's only so many types of people, we aren't all unique special snowflakes. If you have to travel 6 hours to find them (we got a mail from Wales the other day....), you aren't looking hard enough.

We have to travel 100 miles just to get to the nearest motorway, so travelling has never put us off.

Before we had to take a break we planned a weekend away about 500 miles from home.

Our nearest "close" friends are 75 miles away

If we put a 30 mile zone around our house, 30 miles north or south we are in the sea, 30 miles west or east we are on moorland

80 mile radius maximum for me, although I do occasionally meet up with swinging/fetish friends I have in London when I am in the city.

And I hate the thought of people driving 300/400 miles to meet me, particularly as my first meet with anyone new is always social only.

I work 8 miles from home: the journey can take 90 minutes at rush hour...and that's using just a main road - the south circular! So for me, it would be a non starter meeting anyone outside London, as it's a trek as it is!

I'm with you. I travel (very short distances) if my kids are at home - hence I only meet people who can also accommodate.

I have a limited time to play, and I couldn't see myself spending hours travelling around the country for a shag. As my first meet is always social, it would be pointless someone saying they'd travel miles to me either, as you'd have to be damn desperate to meet for a Starbucks during my lunch time!

Some expect it after a 40 mile trip!!! A guy I had been chatting to for a while suggested he come round to see how we got along - no agenda. I was up for it and he duly arrived.

We chatted.. small talk you know how it goes. After about 20 minutes I asked if he wanted another coffe and he said 'Well I won't bother as it looks as if I'm getting nothing here any time soon'

Without stopping for breath he started babbling about how I was very attractive and nice etc etc. and it wasn't me it was him... I let him finish then said 'Yeah you're right I don't like it when there's no electricity either. At which point he said you mean you don't fancy ME? in such an incredulous voice.

He was absolutely gutted and was trying to arrange another meet before he got out the door!!! He came to kiss me and I stepped back and held out my hand for him to shake. Next day I got a mail from him saying how rude it was of him not to bring wine!! I don't even drink lol!

I often wonder if he uses that 'persuasive' trick to get what he wants instantly, still?

i don't see distance as a problem. As any motorcyclist will tell you the journey is part of the fun. My daily commute is just under 100 miles but i do think 300 miles each way is a bit far, unless i have a room booked for the night.

Most definitely they have to make their own rules up as to what distance they can afford to travel to. Same as I decide if Im gonna offer them just coffee or a lovely meal when they get here. I like socialising as well as potentially getting laid.

If we were out at a restaurant though I'd make my own way there and pay for what I ate. I don't get the aa route planner out to see how far they have travelled (or vice versa) I take it as a read that its convenient distance and spend for us both.

Question for those who are happy to drive Three or more hours for a meet...

So you drive all that way, all that time taken up (at least Six hours driving) and a hefty fuel bill to boot...

What if the other person/s doesn't fancy you and says "Thanks but I don't think we are suited"

Still think it's worth it?

There have only been a few people I have even entertained the idea of meeting who lived a long distance away... even though I tend to let people come to me. In such cases I knew without doubt we would get on.

I LOVE long distance meets - for me it just adds to the thrill when I travel a distance never quite knowing what's going to happen when I arrive.

While long distance meets do have a habit of never materialising, in some ways the fact that there is a long distance between the other party and me works in favour of having a really exceptional time when they do pan out, as it forces you both to make an extra effort to get to know the other person / people and build that extra level of trust between you

You can have all the exchange of messages in the world....all the texts....all the phone chats....all the cam chats...

But.....until you meet that person face to face you are still not guaranteed there will be compatability....

So goes back to the question of what would be the outcome of a negative response from the other person/s if you have travelled hundreds of miles half expecting (or downright expecting) sex?

I continuously turn guys down from Exmouth, Plymouth, Bolton in Lancashire, some places i have to look up on a map that i find are the other side of London, why??? I think its been said already, that these people should be looking in their own catchment area, anything beyond an 30-45 mins is just plain desperate. I cannot afford to travel to them, even halfway with some is more than i can afford, and i dont get into getting to know someone stage as i am not interested in anyone the other ends of the country. If that means i lose out on nice meets, so be it, i only meet socially first so to me makes an expensive journey for them

probably true - although from my perspective, if I had travelled 200 miles to meet someone and nothing ended up happening, then the only person I could accuse of wasting my time would be me.

Besides .... what else is free time for if it isn't for wasting

Distance has never been an issue.

Obviously it is nice if you meet people localish as then you are able to meet them more often should you wish.

The only thing about travel is it takes a bit longer to organise.

I have been known to drive a 8h round trip for a pub social event on more than one occassion.

As for actual meet with single gent, 4h round trip is the most I have done so far.

I no longer entertain from home, and have booked rooms at nearby Travelodges once a month until the end of the year. This way, I avoid long distances.

However, I may consider driving long distances for the worthy ones.

Given all the threads about the price of fuel, I'm amazed at how far some people will travel to meet someone. I think about 75 miles is probably my limit - and that's only because I live in the arse end of nowhere.

Anyway, think of how bad it is for the environment before you travel 100's of miles just for sex, when it's probably available on your doorstep. Now put down your car keys and go and seduce the next door neighbour.

I have had someone do a 500+ round trip to meet me and been told it would be a social meet. I never make promises or guarantees that fun will be had. However it did work out.

I have also made the journey from Edinburgh to and had the journey done from Burnley/London/wales/Ireland/australia... yes australia....

at the end of the day, if you think someone is worth meeting then you will make the effort

"You can have all the exchange of messages in the world....all the texts....all the phone chats....all the cam chats...

But.....until you meet that person face to face you are still not guaranteed there will be compatability....

So goes back to the question of what would be the outcome of a negative response from the other person/s if you have travelled hundreds of miles half expecting (or downright expecting) sex?

Ive had that in fact we were arranging a meet and wasnt prepared to spend £25 on a hundred mile round trip if he didnt get sex, and ended it with well you only got to look at my verifications to know im goooood so i stayed home instead

yes but we had been chatting for sometime anyway, since before xmas, and it seemed about time we should arrange to meet, i didnt actually think he was that far, had i known, i wouldnt have bothered, just he did seem rather nice, not bad looking, supportive when my ex passed away, in reality just a complete nob

I wasn't insulting I was stating a fact. Sorry but me for one I'm not going go shag anything with a pulse. We have standards and we stick with them. Just because we travelled that way doesn't mean we would sleep with them. Some would some wouldn't. I'm stating facts. As for camming they didn't have one now we know the form we will ask all meets to show themselves on cam. We have done that since and we've had no problems.

How about this for a rewording

We no longer travel over 25 miles for a meet. This is due to a dissapointing experience where we had travelled 200 miles, the couple we were meeting did not match the pictures we had seen, their pictures had obviously been taken when they were slimmer we decided they were not for us.

Far less insulting than calling people a couple of fatties. I hope you never find yourselves on the end of someones insults. Treat others how you wish to be treated!

No the insult here was us wasting time and petrol only to be decieved. Time is precious to some of us and being messed about by someone who clearly isn't who they say is the biggest insult.

We all do things differently. I would never travel to meet and play with someone I'd not met in the flesh first: smacks a bit of desperation to me.

However, if you take the chance and the people don't meet up to your expectations there are ways of saying things: we can all be insulting, some of us however try not to offend, especially if we recognise we have to take some of the blame for things not quite turning out to plan!

Annoying, frustrating and irritating yes. A waste of time and petrol yes. short sighted of them yes but insulting. But then I guess that depends on how you define being insulted.

I find the belittling of people because of their size, age, race, height all insulting.

Being angry at them for wasting your time your entitled to but to publicly call them names I dont think so
