If we're discounting all the boy/girl bands and talking "proper" bands that write and play their own music there are a few that don't do anything for me:

Nickelback - just find them dull and predictable

Coldplay (with the exception of he first 2/3 albums) - ditto

There are a few genres (heavy metal being an example) I don't as a rule like either, so most bands within those would count too

Red Hot Chilli Pepeers and Stone Roses both have made a career from 1 decent album.

Radiohead, dull self indulgent whiney shit

Ocean Colour Scene, genre hoppng spoilt rich kids playing at being poor who managed to write one catchy riff

RazorLight, utter utter shite who's fame is purely down to a music media laughing at Johnny Burrell

Oasis. Dull uninspired cliched twats playing music for dumb uninspired cliched twats

Coldplay. There are no words

Oasis - absolute, utter shit, and a pair of pretentious cunts who's utterly vile personalities made the whole joke even worse. There was lots of great music up until the mid 90s, then the absolute audial horror that was the brit pop era squirmed its way onto the scene, and music as a whole has never recovered.

Radiohead, Thom Yorke is a proper pretentious arsehole who needs a full frontal lobotomy and a fucking smile. Blur and Muse fall in to the same category. Can't stand those bands who try to recreate their sound every new album, get over your sen.

"Genesis. They make me want to gouge my eyeballs out with a rusty spoon."

You'd still be able to hear them !

Or is it their appearance you dislike ?

Oh and pretty much every UK band from the 80s. Step away from the synths and bad hair.

Walkinstown

Whilst we can see how people might not like some of these bands, we find it hard to beleive many are on here.

For example, Sebb isn't a Smiths fan, but her can certainly appreciate someone elses taste for them.

Similarly, Ellen isn't crazy about ACDC, but she understands why others are so.

We think that some people are confusing bands they DISLIKE with bands they feel are OVER-RATED.

Such as the Beatles - over-rated.

Coldplay - we dislike.

Coldplay, Editors and Sctipt have this whiny singing style. They are the dictionary definition of corporate rock.

Although Radiohead are quite good.

With the exception of Blur I pretty much agree with this list.

Monumentally so, I once heard someone describe Morriseys singing 'like he has a finger up his arse', which pretty much sums them up perfectly.

Likewise, I'm not a RHCP fan either, but we've already lost too many artists this year, I hope he makes a full recovery

Well if there's one thing this thread shows it's how diverse peoples tastes in music are.

It also shows how intolerant we are as well.

Damn! that's two things.

If there's two things this thread shows, it's how diverse and intolerant we are.

It also shows that some of us have no taste.

Fuck! that's three things.

"The Smiths Fucking hate that depressing shit

See now I quite like The Smiths, until Morrissey opens his gob "

I love the Smiths, I don't mind Coldplay too, I prefer depressing songs rather than happy lovey dovey stuff.

I hated Take That and Robbie Williams, boy bands in general. I dislike Adele's music.

West Wales and Cardiff

"Stereophonics... even fell asleep in a field when they were playing "

It's sacrilege in Wales, but I agree. I saw them live in a field too - it was full of pissed steroid-addled blokes. Not fun, but dislike them in general.

Also:

Pink Floyd

Pearl Jam

U2

Nirvana

Iron Maiden

Metallica

To be fair, I don't like guitar music much these days - I used to be a guitar teacher too!
