needed 2 tyres for the car, for a laugh, asked at kwik fit for a price, for my car, they quoted a price for a pirelli tyre, with 25% special offer discount, at £126 each.

Went to a little one man band and they done me the same tyre for £91, a saving of £34 and that was without the discount, ended up paying £82 each.

how the hell do kwik fit get away with it??

I don't ever remember Marks or Tescos telling er indoors that her perfectly legal tyres were a death trap and then sell her some dodgy substandard remoulds

Because when I go to "the little guy" they quote me more than Kwik Fit half the time.

Did a little experiment once. I needed some work on my car doing. I wrote down exactly what I wanted to say. I phoned a few garages and read out my words of what I wanted done. I then got my father to ring around the same garages and say the same words. On average it was about a 20% difference between the prices quoted to me and him.

So, you saved £100. It would take many people a day or two to do that work themselves. If not more. And they'd need to buy in specialist equipment no doubt. Might as well just work a morning instead, and get someone else to do it...

maybe if you went in person and presented yourself as a male you'd get a 20% discount.

Worth a try?

I just go to kwik fit or halfords instead. They read the price out of a book and warranty all the work.

Went to Kwik fit with a screw in a tyre on the way to a dj gig...so super short on time... had a quote from another tyre place next door (they are always close by to another wanky tyre place, why is that?)

Quoted £8 more than thier competitor (still £81), and when I reminded them of thier beat any quote policy they beat it by......... 1 pence.

Told the guy to shove his penny up his arse.

Drove the van with a dodgy tyre (thankfully the screw held until the next day), and got a one man band to do it for £45.

Knobs.

there competitors not much better, they find work on your car if it needs its or not, the national one refused to sell me a tyre unless i gave them my full address, i said just put the reg down, no, so i went to kwix fit, sold one without personal details, as i was away from home on a bank holiday i had no choice, i avoid the major chains,as the people are on commission.

I find Kwik Fit brilliant. If I have a high level of stress, I go to kwik fit for a quote, they tell me about the undiagnosed faults that the car has and give me a ridiculous figure. I then lose it big time with them and drive off feeling that all of my inner tensions have suddenly disappeared.

Therapy for free......simples!

Use Tyre Leader or Oponeo for online tyres. Have them delivered to your home and pay a garage to fit them for you.

You save epic amounts

People like you with your inbuilt prejudices are made for Kwik Fit.

Use an Internet supplier like black circles. They will supply the tyres and even tell you where the nearest independent tyre fitter is to fit them for you.

I normally purchase my tyres from Costco. The discounted tyre prices more than pay for the membership.

Cost-co are great as if you have right membership you get some of it back at end of year. Love how I get effectively one shopping trip free each year
