Today's Question

Given the popularity of yesterday's sport question I posed (which shocked me I must admit) I have another conversation start for today....

If you were to switch jobs this week and suddenly become a writer, on what subject would you most like to write a book about, and why?

History. Specifically Tudor History. I would probably start with either Walsingham or my secret history crush Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.

One day I'll find the time.

I've actually been thinking about this for real this week.

I'd love to write about all of those funny / tragic / unethical things I've seen in various workplaces during my career.

I'm already writing one, about the experiences of 4 generations growing up mixed race, and how they identify as in which side of their dual heritage they feel most drawn to.

I've done so many interviews with some interesting people, and heard some sad stories of brutal treatment by society and even their own family, it's been an amazing journey especially the lady I spoke to who was a war baby her fathe was an African American soldier, hearing how her mother shielded her from the racism, and gave her a reasonably healthy upbringing under difficult circumstances was inspirational, this against the teenager who believes that black people and white people were supposed to get together to create the mixed master race, shocking and fucking scary, to see someone so young with such a tainted view of the world

Keep threatening (to myself admittedly) to do a book about 'on the road tour stories'. Why, because I have many!

Ok time to awnser my own question!

Would probably have to be something to do with the mind for me... How we use it, how we view the world around us...... And in particular how those things that we think and assume spill over and end up being a huge factor in how our lives our shaped each and every day.

A wise person once said "whatever we predominantly think about we bring about". The older I get the more and more I inderstand that saying.

Biblical slavery story, told from the perspective of an Eygptian rich aristocratic family who's daughter falls in love with a Jewish slave boy around the time of the exodus.

Jewish slave boy ends up saving his love and some of her family (not all, her father and brothers hate their Jewish slaves and traditions because of Moses)

What do you think?

Historical fiction set in the radical movement in post-Napoleonic Era London, with a radical plot to murder Castlereagh and Sidmouth and place The King of Rome on the British throne

*47 rejections thus far*

*possibly due to overuse of the word "radical"

I would really like to do a comparative politics analysis of the history of money in politics, focusing on the changing norms throughout history rather than one country specifically.

I think it would end up being rather long and that I would have too hard a time keeping it readable rather than being too legalistic so I've decided to skip it. Though I am working on an article for publication on the effect of the the Citizens United v. FEC decision on US elections.
