Apparently the BBC are considering no longer giving TV Licences free to over 75's where they live with someone who works. It will affect 600000 pensioners.

Should it be means tested in some way as it isn't as the moment?

I think if you're on a high income generally - over 50k a year for example then you can afford it and should pay it.

Newcastle

I think with the garbage that's on it most of the time it should be free for all. I have recently got rid of my TV as I find myself not watching it at all.

Great Yarmouth

Question would be why anyone should have to compulsory pay for this service. We very rarely watch any bbc programmes as there is nothing that we enjoy. In this day and age should it not be a pay by view channel?

To be fair I don't see why I should pay it as and if that meant I wasn't able to watch the BBC channels etc then I could live with that

you don't need tv anyway. radio is free, the internet isn't but it's about the same price as the tv license.

I can afford to pay it, but why should I?

Why do I not have a choice as to whether I wish to associate myself with the BBC or not

as for pensioners, no they should not pay, regardless of income
