not far from iceland,,,,,, tescos is nearer though :-) (near leeds)

The building societies are extending the age at which your mortgage can mature ,

I m pretty sure I'd not want a mortgage into my eighties.

Thoughts ?

Martin Lewis did explain it would only work for those with large private pensions or those who only needed maybe Five to ten years mortgages

It's a good idea if it makes getting a mortgage at more manageable repayments later on in life easier for some people.

Let's say you're 50-55 and want to buy your own house as ex took last one for instance ?

Your monthly repayments on the mortgage over 10-15 years until your 65 would in my opinion be bloody HUGE !

So this is a very positive stepid forward by the lenders in my opinion especially as we are working and living longer now.
