"I find the whole personal bio-telematics craze to be odd and a bit surreal. We evolved as species just fine without having to know how many steps we took each day or what our sleeping heart rate was over the last 7 days - oh and now its selling personal health insurance (much like smartphone telematics in cars and car insurance). Plus the mild obsessive, compulsive nature of monitoring, recording and analysing of everything little movement every single day; then publishing it on social media for absolutely no good reason. Im waiting on a real-world application where it can be used for some actual good - such as an early indicator of an impending medical condition or to track a conditions advancement / decline. " I bought one because a good (male) friend of mine found it helped him lose weight by tracking the difference in intake vs output accurately, that is all - I wondered if doing that might work for me. ![]() | |||

The idea is that you ensure your exercise exceeds your intake by a specific amount each day for a specified level of loss per week. I'll be interested to see if it works for me because normally only zero carb regimes do and they're a bitch to stick to. I ride, I dance, I swim, so if I slip on the diet I should be able to see exactly what I have to do to keep on track - like bugger off dancing 'til 2am! That I can do I reckon! ![]() | |||

" Hello My name is James and I'm kinda addicted to fitbit Not really but I do go aww when I realise I've not put it on after the shower or its run out of charge , feel smug when I achieve 4000 cals or a skyscraper badge and am obsessed by my resting heart rate 57 btw xxx" Not a fitbit, but a Microsoft Band 2. Find it useful to track my activity and act as a prompter to get me off my bum sometimes. Managed to burn 4000+ calories yesterday which is more than double my daily target. My resting HR averages around 44bpm but i've recorded 38 before now - quite alarming what alcohol does to it though. | |||
