How much has you weekly shop increased in price ????

Over the past 6-8 months I reckon that we are paying between £15 and £20 more per week for our shopping.

We always Shop at ASDA, have tried the rest Lidl Aldi etc but in reality they don't seem to come out a great deal different and their fruit and veg doesn't stay fresh for great deal of time.

Our weekly shop comprises of fresh fruit / veg, cereal, milk, meat, very little canned or processed food, and general everyday things.

On avearge, our weekly shop is costing £90 - ok £20 of that is for booze, but half a year ago we could get the same amount of stuff, including the booze, from the same store for considerably less money.

I know the cost of transportation has increased but who thinks that the supermarkets are taking the opportunity to stick it right up their customers ???

I have to say as im in huge debt and working hard to pay them off as i think i should, i no-longer do all my shopping in Asda, i have to shop around as i cant afford not to.

I buy similar to you; i buy my 4pts of milk from the pound shop and i will only buy from anywhere else if, for example tescos do buy 2 for £2 or if i am desperate for milk. I buy my marg from Morrisons as the stuff i buy is nearly 50p cheaper, that may not sound alot but for me, thats a loaf of bread from the same place. I dont buy my bread from asda as their own brand is dreadful.

I buy most of my frozen stuff from Iceland and my fruit from a local store in the indoor market, they often have it reduced and as there are 2 of us in the house, a bag of bruised apples dont last long.

I also now found that Sainsburys cereal is cheaper than Asda even when there is a special offer on.

So for me, the need to save money overtook the ease to visit Asda for all my shopping, and that includes my monthly shop. The only place i wont shop at is Lidl or Aldis.

So yes perhaps they have increased prices to compensate for the increase in petrol charges but really no-one can blame them and a local haulage firm that has been around since cars were invented, has now gone bust because of it

I shop at asda and it's only me I do a shop every 2 weeks then get my fresh when I need to.

I spend about £80 every 2 weeks and £10 a day for paper and fags etc.

My weekly shop at my local supermarket is about 30GBP a week, and I have noticed some of my usual purchases have gone up in price.

The price of a roast chicken at the hot food counter has gone up by nearly 1 GBP, and 5 chicken thighs by 30p.

Not that I would pay full price for them, as I normally get them at discounted prices, often at half price, so that the pets and I can share them!

I go to Lidl's and Aldi's too for items that I cannot get at my local supermarket, and have not seen a significant increase in prices.

im stil trying to suss out what my average weekly shop is because sometimes i just need to top up on veg & fruit where as other times i need baby milk, nappies, baby wipes and to re stock basic lader ingredients.

just got back from morrisons and spent £20 and could easily make about 2 weeks meals out of that for me and little one.. cos i have meat that was a bargain at previous weekly shops in the freezer.

I've got half a dozen or so Tesco/ Sainsburys/ Morrisons/ Somerfield and Co-op 'local' stores with easy walking distance of home.

Most close at 8pm weekdays and, from about 7pm onwards, are full of fresh stuff reduced by at least 50% and sometimes up to 95%.

It makes for a pleasant stroll round the city and a cheap evening meal

There's an M&S too but there's never any bargains there

I drive past my local supermarket en-route from work, and would often pop in to bargain hunt.

I do my weekly shop on a late opening evening, and can often get discounted roast chicken and deli items.

Peeps think I spoil my pets by feeding them roast chicken. However, I never buy them at full price. 99p a hot roast chicken is cheaper than some pet food IMHO! And I get to eat the skin which is best part of the chicken IMHO, and the bones make lovely stock for home-made soups!

I seldom buy ready meals at full price as I believe they are expensive for what they are worth.

i live alone and spend about 20 quid a week on food . i make my own soups and meals buy the occasional bottle of wine and i never ever throw anything away .im lucky i dont have a family to feed last time i did a shop for my daughter (family of five) it cost me 130 quid for the week ....

During the football season my other half works away for days on end so I am often shopping for food for myself, the son I have who still lives at home rarely eats at home...

I have ALWAYS made a point of having at least two dinners a week on a student type budget, usually something on toast or just a baked potato.....

This helps to balance out the fact that I have two or three M&S ready meals a week.....usually because they are quick and easy.

I bulk-cook meat dishes such as curry, stews, chilli etc., and portion them into tubs before freezing them.

When required, I just need to add some starch such as rice or pasta, and veg, and I have a lovely home-cooked meal at lunch at work.

I seldom eat a full meal in the evening, as there is usually something in the fridge/house to snack on.

Yes.

Our bill has gone up in the last few months too without too much of a change in what we shop for.

Cant beat a classic meal like beans/spaghetti/raviloi even a poached egg on toast

Yummy and quick comfort foods but yet really filling, especially in the evenings when i CBA to cook for one :D
