Losing the plot when having a child

So we all lose the plot our little darlings are the biggest and best, can smile at a week old when we all know its wind. An accidental move of the hand and where telling everyone to wave.

Well jays grandson is exactly a year old. His daughter rang to say he had said his first word. Mummy? Daddy? No he said dangerous. Me and jay are still laughing laughing as this is a really intelligent woman

well it could but i have never known a child whose not said a clear word to come out with such a long word so clear you can understand it straight off

My cat said mummy to me the other day; I heard it, my OH heard it, but when I tell anyone else, he denies it .... the cat hasn't repeated it though

What used to annoy me the most were the "mom-olympics"... "Can't he sit down yet"? "Not sleeping through the night? Mine did from day 1!".." "Can't she walk yet? Mine started at 9 months", "can't he read yet? You should worry, he's 2.5 years old"...

You learn though..

My daughters first word was 'more' at 18 months. I think we as parents what our children to hit the milestones so we miss hear words.

you learn not to care what other peoples kids do or whether your child is " exactly" on target all babies develop differently.

My son had almost a full set of teeth by the time he was six months but was a bit slow on his walking, swings and roundabouts

We feel your pain...Our son was non verbal (until an amazing nursery teacher picked up on him) and never spoke properly until about 4. He's the reason the whole school now learns Makaton from nursery upwards and all assemblies are now 'signed'. Not that you'd ever know he was a non talker as he never shuts up now
