warwickshire

Something to do with the landlords, apparently, jacking the rent up after going back on a gentleman's agreement to let Stu & Ali do the place up in return for keeping the rent at a certain price.

Just goes to show that a verbal agreement isn't worth the paper its written on!

.

From a source very close to Stu and Ali

In order to prevent the spread of innacurate rumour here is an Information Notice regarding The Rude Revels at Club Spice.

We have just had notification from Stuart that Club Spice has had to close.

The reason behind this closure is purely financial. Following the decision by the owners of Ceasars not to renew the lease because they wished to sell the land to a developer Stuart and Ali entered into a verbal agreement with the owners of the Club Spice venue to renovate the premises (which was a shell having been gutted by thieves who had taken all the fittings, pipework and electrics leaving the place severely water damaged) in return for an advantageous rent.

The core work having been done between Aug and Dec 2010 Stuart and Ali opened up having got all the relevant licences and insurances in place. Last week the owners informed Stuart and Ali that the original amount required for the rent had been revised and would be considerably more than initially discussed. To cut a long story short the amount required rendered the project financially non viable and so Stuart and Ali had to make a very difficult choice knowing how much that closure would affect all their friends.
