little house on the praire

Has anyone been? Just spent a few hours there. We went to the bluebell woods area. Walking along the path, woods on oneside where a carpet of bluebells, the other side the water was glistening in the sun. Kept going of the beaten track to the birdwatching hydes.

We sat and had lunch on the seat where im having my ashes scattered.

There are all sorts of areas there, nature reserve, trout fishing, rock climbing, water sports centre (not that sort) theyve even built a beach. There is an adult play area where some of the eqipment is designed for wheelchair users.

Bikes, you can hire every concoction of bike from tandoms to ones that attatch buggies and wheelchairs. A boat that does a cruise.

And apart from paid activities its free you could spend a day there and only pay carpark which is reasonable. You do pay to go to the nature reserve as that takes lots of upkeep.

Also has little built in bbqs scatteted around for you to use and designated dog walking areas where you can let them off the lead.

The nearest entrance is exactly 4 miles from my house.

NOW sell me your local beauty spot/tourist area

SH is the ansestral home of Lord Lichfield & being fully handed back to Thr National Trust. Lovely building, beautiful gardens, a farm etc...

I do love that whole region.

Melton Mowbray, Oakham and Stamford are all stunning local towns nearby.

I really wish I could sell my area, but I can't. I'd feel like a shyster, trying to con you into visiting. If you ever find yourself in dodge, drive straight through, don't stop and never look back.

There's a lovely hotel there, beautiful grounds and the view of Rutland waters is breath taking, whatever the season.

Under blanket of snow, it's just something else..

Everytime we go to Burghley horse trials we always say we're going to make a few days of it and visit the area, it looks beautiful round there.

Bedfordshire

I live on top of Lea Valley Park where we have the river lea and all its narrowboats and locks, willow trees, sculptures, miles of paths to walk, cycle, run; hides, weirs, pubs, cafes, wildlife, we have the white water rafting centre built for the Olympic games which is another nice spot to sit and have a coffee.

Nearest entrance, just a mile awa. I love my local park
